The Walking Dead introduces a main character for the show’s final season


Avengers: Endgame actor Michael James Shaw joins the cast of The Walking Dead as the popular comic book character Mercer, a mohawked ex-Marine.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 10, Episode 17, “Home Sweet Home,” aired Sunday on AMC.

The Walking Dead confirmed that Blood and treasures Michael James Shaw will appear as a new character in the eleventh and final season of the AMC series.

Shaw will play Mercer, a popular former Marine from The Walking Dead comics, as reported by Term. Few details have been revealed about the adaptation of Mercer’s program; however, he is known in the comics as a “tough presence with his Mr. T-style haircut.”

Mercer’s character debuted in The Walking Dead # 177 and is best known for his experience in the United States Marine Corps, which led to him becoming the leader of the Commonwealth Army. In the comics, he is also romantically involved with Juanita Sánchez, also known as Princesa. Juanita (Paola Lázaro) was featured in Season 10, Episode 14 of The Walking Dead, when he ran into Stephanie, Eugene, Ezekiel, and Yumiko.

“Home Sweet Home”, the first episode of The walking Dead Extended Season 10 premiered on February 28. In the episode, Lauren Cohan’s Maggie reunited with the group following the conclusion of the Whispering War. Maggie also introduced her new “people” – Elijah and Cole – to Daryl and Carol and accepted Negan’s new freedom.

The news that Shaw joined the cast came days later. the Living Dead Showrunner Angela Kang detailed why Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s real wife, Hilarie Burton, was cast as Negan’s wife Lucille in season 10. “So I’ll say that the COVID situation and the fact that they’re together in a capsule, these characters have to do intimate scenes, “Kang said. “It definitely helps just for the comfort level, but the conversation about her possibly playing Lucille was long before the start of the pandemic.”

Besides playing Aiden Shaw on CBS ‘ Blood and treasure, Shaw appeared as the supervillain Corvus Glaive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Avengers: Infinity War Y Avengers Endgame. His other television credits include roles in Unlimited, Bull, Constantine Y Estate.

The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, and Cooper Andrews. The series airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET / PT on AMC and is available to air early on AMC +.
