Star Wars: Age of Republic – Obi-Wan Kenobi # 1 from Marvel Comics shows Anakin training to be a Jedi. A technique that he uses is useful and timeless.

TO Jedi training technique in Star Wars he’s more powerful than fans think. Star Wars: Age of Republic – Obi-Wan Kenobi # 1 shows Anakin training using a particular method that turns out to be very useful at the end of the issue: levitate rocks using the Force. It is also one that can be recognizable by fans of the movies, both original and new.
Even though there are nine movies in the Skywalker saga, Anakin’s training is largely absent from all of them. Luke and Rey’s training are focal points in their respective trilogies, but not much is known about the training the Padawans underwent during the Republic era as far as the movies are concerned. When fans see Anakin, he is a child who has yet to be trained, a teenage apprentice on the verge of becoming a Jedi Master, or a new Jedi Master heading to the Dark Side. He is never seen completing a traditional training exercise. That’s where the Star Wars comics come in and fill in some gaps.

Star Wars: Age of Republic – Obi-Wan Kenobi # 1 Since 2019, Anakin has been in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant lifting rocks with the Force. Written by Jody Houser with art by Cory Smith and Wilton Santos, this issue shows Anakin arranging the rocks into floating sections before being interrupted. Later, it becomes clear that this exercise can be used for more than just learning to manipulate objects using the Force. During a mission with Obi-Wan, Anakin is pinned down by pirates on the planet Dallenor while collecting a Jedi holocron. He gets out of this situation by lifting nearby rocks and hitting his captor on the back of the head with them.
What does this have to do with the larger world of Star Wars? For starters, this situation shows that a simple exercise like lifting stones can help a Jedi apprentice get out of a tight spot. Even without a weapon, Jedi are not helpless as long as they can locate resources near them and combine them with their natural abilities, regardless of age and experience. Although some forms of training seem useless in practice, they can be applied in unexpected ways. It also suggests that of all the techniques the Jedi had, this might be one of the most traditional, useful, and easy to replicate anywhere. Anakin isn’t the only Jedi who trains by lifting rocks or lifting objects while concentrating. In The Empire Strikes Back, Luke lifts objects around him as he concentrates during his training with Yoda. Similarly, in The last jedi Rey is seen lifting rocks to free the remains of the Resistance after the rocks were raised around her during the Ahch-To meditation with Luke. In The rise of Skywalker, the rocks revolve around Rey during meditation.
Clearly, lifting is an important part of learning to control the Force effectively. Being force-sensitive doesn’t mean much if the user doesn’t understand or doesn’t know how to manipulate it. This also implies that the simplest methods can sometimes be the best and longest-lived. This training technique may seem like a small detail, but it is one that connects every generation of Jedi during the Star Wars saga.
