Thor: Love and Thunder might feature the Necrosword, the MCU’s most powerful weapon, but it may have already been teased twice.
The next big weapon for the Marvel Cinematic Universe might have been teased twice before. Gorr the God Butcher is the wielder of a legendary symbiote weapon, the All-Black, and manifests as the hideous weapon known as the Necrosword. However, although Gorr will likely wield his iconic weapon in Thor: love and thunder, it may not be the first time the public has seen this weapon in action.
There are two previous weapons that could also be the Necrosword, although it remains unconfirmed either way if this is the case. However, given the sheer power of these two weapons, it is possible that Hela and Thanos previously wielded the All Black, as Hela’s swords and Thanos’ double-bladed sword closely resemble the Necrosword from the comics.

What are the multiple forms of the Necrosword?
The All-Black takes alternate forms and is a living being. At one point, the All-Black resembles Hela’s weapons in Thor: Ragnarok, while on another occasion it resembles Thanos’s double-edged sword, as he wields it in Avengers Endgame.
Hela’s swords are presumably generated from her armor, which appears to be an organic entity. It is clear that he wields some kind of dark magic that can materialize around him, and the swords seem to sprout organically from his hands, which would coincide with the operation of the All-Black. Meanwhile, Thanos’ sword resembles one of the many forms the Necrosword takes throughout the comics. Specifically, it resembles the Annihilblade, the colossal form the Necrosword takes when Gorr takes on King Thor, and they both have two similar swords and hilts.
Both weapons are also incredibly devastating. Hela is powerful enough to eradicate Asgard’s forces with her swords, while Thanos’s blade is strong enough to chip away Captain America’s vibranium shield. This indicates that both weapons are immensely strong and probably capable of eradicating the gods. This would put them on par with the power of the All-Black.
How is the Necrosword in the MCU?
There is a big problem with all of this, and that is the question of how is the Necrosword in both Ragnarok Y End of the game. Hela’s organic weapons appear with her, being part of her abilities from the moment she is released, but the Thanos who wields the sword in Endgame It’s from 2014, when Hela would still be a prisoner.
If Hela has the Necrosword on her when she comes out of incarceration, then it doesn’t make sense that Thanos also has access to the sword in Endgame. This would indicate that one of them has the real Necrosword, if any of them do; however, there is another possible explanation. Thanos does not wield the sword in Infinity war, which implies that he either did not need it or did not have it at the time. It is possible that the Necrosword was originally in Thanos’ possession, but was later lost, or stolen prior to the events of Ragnarok.
While Odin’s death signals Hela’s return, it is possible that she could have stolen Thanos’s Necrosword before reaching Earth, only for it to take an alternate and more fluid form in her hands. Since Odin was weakening over a period of time, that might have been his window to rob the Mad Titan.
However, if the Necrosword were locked up with Hela, it would be impossible for Thanos to wield it, so the similarities between his weapon and the Necrosword are simply a coincidence. Again, this is also theoretical, as it is not confirmed that Hela was in the position of the Necrosword.
How can Gorr get the Necrosword back?
While Hela is destroyed by Surtur at the end of Ragnarok, Thanos brings his weapon with him to the current timeline. Assuming one or both is the Necrosword, there are a variety of possibilities at hand. The first possibility is that Hela’s Necrosword survived the destruction of Asgard, linking Gorr’s origins with the Asgardians. Another possibility is that Thanos’ iteration of the Necrosword is in the custody of Earth, which could lead Thor back to Earth, where New Asgard and Jane Foster reside.
If this theory is true, there are many avenues through which Gorr can retrieve this deadly weapon of destruction. If the theory turns out to be false and these weapons are simply similar to the Necrosword, fans are eagerly awaiting their official debut.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the Butcher God.
