They keep it close!
The next The last of us TV series on HBO Max, next to star Pedro Pascal Y Bella Ramsey, has game fans more excited than ever. Thanks to the game director and executive producer. Neil DruckmannWe now know that the adaptation will be even closer to the story of the first game than initially expected! In an interview with IGN, Druckmann spoke during SXSW 2021 about himself and his showrunner Craig mazinThe focus of the next series, explaining how the first game would deviate and follow.
According to Druckmann, “the philosophical foundations of the story” were what he considered most important to get right when it came to the live-action television adaptation. “As for the superficial things, as it should [a character] wear the same plaid shirt or the same red shirt? They may or may not appear in it, that’s much less important to us than knowing the core of who these people are and the core of their journey. ”
Though the creator couldn’t reveal too much about the adaptation, he does give a decent hint of what’s to come, saying, “Things get pretty tight sometimes. It’s hilarious to see my dialogue there from the games in the HBO scripts. And sometimes they deviate a lot with a much better effect because we are dealing with a different medium. ”
While fans will see a lot more of the original game than expected, they will also get more intense and exciting scenes to up the ante. Druckmann explained that there is a lot of action involved in training players in the mechanics when creating the game, resulting in more violence and fighting than necessary in a TV series, adding:
“HBO has been great at pushing us away from the hardcore action and focusing more on the drama of the character. Some of my favorite episodes so far have strayed a lot from history, and I can’t wait for people to see them.”
The last of us will star Pascal and Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, respectively, with Beanpole himself Kantemir Balagov directing the long-awaited series. Druckmann and Mazin will also help with the project. While not much else is known about the cast or release date, fans can be sure there will be more to come.
First announced in March 2020, the adaptation received a series order from HBO during November 2020, and things have heated up quickly this year in terms of its cast, so it seems like it’s only a matter of time before that we know more about this long-awaited one. series, including additional casting and potential release date, so keep checking in with Collider for more information.
