Oscilloscope Laboratories will be partnering with Mailchimp again this year for the free streaming event #SupportTheShorts, which features a variety of SXSW Film Festival shorts on the Mailchimp Presents streaming platform. The Support the Shorts initiative was launched last year when SXSW was canceled due to the pandemic, causing short filmmakers to miss out on having their work seen by such a large audience.

While SXSW returned this year with an online event, the decision was made to continue Support the Shorts to keep many of the event’s shorts in the spotlight. The short film event will also come with a new set of awards to recognize titles that will be played for free for people around the world to view.

“We are very proud to bring back Support the Shorts, a collection of short films from SXSW, for the second year!” Sarita Alami, head of programming at Mailchimp Studios, said in a statement. “Although the festival has returned to its online format, we wanted to continue to find ways to support the SXSW filmmaker community and shed light on their work. We are particularly delighted to present a new set of awards to honor the filmmakers who are bringing works of art to our screens in unprecedented times. “

Dan Berger, President of Oscilloscope Laboratories, added: “It is always exciting to feel emboldened and empowered to do a good job and we are so grateful that Mailchimp and SXSW gave us that opportunity. There are so many new voices on display at SXSW and we appreciate that Mailchimp has taken steps to allow those voices to be heard by the widest audience possible. We are just pawns in this game, so thank you for inviting us to the board! “
