James Gunn’s first DC movie, Suicide squad, you get 12 new character posters for the main cast, including Bloodsport, Harley Quinn, and Peacemaker. Gunn, hired to direct the sequel / reboot after being fired by Disney from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (a movie for which he was later rehired), he finally released the first red band, Suicide squad trailer revealing DC villain Starro and the entire team on Friday. Unsurprisingly, the new footage features a comic, anarchic, and violent superhero movie that defies simple categorization.
The long-awaited film hopes to rectify David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide squad errors, which suffered study interference and, as a result, ended up a disappointing and tonally inconsistent critical failure. Warner Bros. seems to have learned its lesson for this movie, allowing Gunn complete creative control, unleashing him on its character catalog. As a result, Suicide squad features an eclectic mix of characters from the 2016 version, including Rick Flag, Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, and Captain Boomerang, joining characters like Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man, and Bloodsport, a character Gunn wrote for Idris Elba. The film features no less than 17 characters from Task Force X.

To coincide with the release of the first trailer, WB released new character posters for 12 of those characters. All of the colorful new character posters feature the stars in disguise, with something about their characters exploding behind them. There are posters for Bloodsport, Harley Quinn, Peacemaker, Amanda Waller, Captain Boomerang, Polka-Dot Man, Rick Flag, King Shark, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, Thinker, and Weasel. Weasel’s is perhaps the most fun, with a bunch of croquettes exploding behind it. You can see the 12 posters below:
Since there are so many characters in Suicide squad, it is understandable that some do not have their own posters. But this is also perhaps a sign of which characters play a more prominent role in the movie than others. Characters left out of the poster mix include Blackguard, TDK, and Javelin, and they are supposed to die quite early. Of course, there is also a good chance that WB and Gunn know that audiences will take this on, and those characters could end up being the ones who survive to the end. As all the signs say, “don’t get too attached.”
With the first trailer finally available, and these new character posters released, the anticipation of Suicide squad it is increasing among audiences. Especially since everything that was released in the last two days, including a Dirty dozenInspired by the poster, it hints that the film will be a wild and explosive action flick in the style of the 1970s. Suicide squad premieres in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6.
