Recently, in a Neighbors episode of The ringer Rewatchables podcast, host Bill Simmons claimed that there have been no comedies that have reached the heights of 2014 Seth Rogen-Rose Byrne two-handed. Sure, this neglects many of the best comedies of the 2010s, but it also ignores that a stellar comedy just arrived in 2021: Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar.
A deliriously silly game Spike and star Toys with a number of genres, going from spy satire to middle-aged think-tank to musical farce, over and over again, and the various avenues the film explores allow a ton of characters to surface and jump off the screen. Each one is designed so distinctively that even a person’s zodiac sign could romantically align them with a Spike and star character.
12 Aries: star
First, one of the protagonists of the film, Star (Kristen Wiig) is the ideal soul mate for someone born under the sign of Aries. She is an overly eager character who is a supreme people-pleaser with a mouth that moves faster than her thoughts.
As such, Star would get along very well with anyone born under the sign of Aries, as they possess many of the same qualities. Star’s tendency to please people can be best mitigated by someone who is equally eager to seek joy.
eleven Taurus: Edgar
As the breaking character of Spike and starEdgar (Jamie Dornan) is a passionate and sensitive man who has no loyalty to anyone but himself. As long as he is not personally harmed, he is as trustworthy as he sounds, which means that he is the ideal soul mate for a Taurus.
Taurus need someone they can trust because otherwise they could only trust themselves. Considering Edgar goes out of his way to pursue his crush, it’s the perfect marriage of sensuality and dependability that Taurus want.
10 Gemini: Barb Quicksilver
Star and Barb (Annie Mumolo) are practically two sides of the same coin and the characters are essentially inseparable and are often finishing each other’s sentences. As such, they both display dynamic and avid qualities.
But since these are prominently sought in Aries, they could be even more pronounced in the interests of a Gemini. Every decision Barb makes is wildly unpredictable and that’s the exact kind of high-flying romance a Gemini would want, considering they’re equally high-octane personalities and vice versa.
9 Cancer: Trish
In Spike and star, Trish’s (Reba McEntire) conception is clearly delineated. Trish is the life of the party, a deep feeling and someone who never gives up on herself or the people she loves.
Trish is also a protective soul, as she arrives to save the day in Spike and star, rescuing the titular heroes as a deus ex machina. This protective nature is one of the most valued characteristics of a Cancer and they will love being from another world as Trish introduces herself.
8 Leo: Sharon Gordon’s Fisherman
Leos are unique personalities in this world. Over the top, dramatic, and self-assured throughout, a Leo can only have one soul mate to match his energy every step of the way. The only character who comes close to that is Sharon Gordon Fisherman (Wiig).
Yes, Sharon eventually sees the error in her forms. But until that point, she’s just as enigmatic and bombastic as Disney’s most outrageous villains. Sharon radiates the kind of energy that only Leos can embrace.
7 Virgo: Delores
For Virgos, the name of the game is loyalty. If a potential soulmate does not possess the qualities of loyalty and trustworthiness, then a Virgo has no future with them.
Fortunately, that’s the main trait of Delores (Phyllis Smith), the Talking Club member who loves horses more than anything. He adores equines so much that he prioritizes them over his own membership in the premier social club in the Midwest. Virgos will appreciate Delores for her ability to be true to herself.
6 Libra: Pinky
In Spike and star, Pinky (Fortune Feimster) is another member of the Talking Club. However, she differs from Delores because she is more socially minded and enjoys being part of a group, even if she is not allowed to bring in much individuality.
Considering that Libras are also mostly social, they will appreciate Pinky’s willingness to expose herself and accept people for who they are. The perfect soulmate for Libra is someone who is polite and sociable, and Pinky fits the criteria perfectly.
5 Scorpio: Tommy Bahama
Of course, Tommy Bahama (Andy Garcia) could exist outside of the realm of the human spirit and the tangible notion of romantic connections between people. But he would still make an ideal soulmate for Scorpio when considering the humanity he possesses.
Scorpios are known for their brave and adventurous spirits and their passion for everything related to life on Earth. Tommy Bahama is practically the direct embodiment of these qualities. Not only would he be a Scorpio soulmate, but his desire to live would also make him the ideal soulmate.
4 Sagittarius: Mickey
Mickey (Wendi McLendon-Covey) only appears briefly in Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar, but it leaves a great impression on the characters. After all, she is a colorful and relaxing presence in the movie that shows Barb and Star how much more pristine their lives could be.
For Sagittarians, their ideal soulmates are outgoing, conversational, and deeply generous people. Considering that Mickey is the type of person who start a conversation, Sagittarians would be best suited to settle with her.
3 Capricorn: Darlie Bunkle
Darlie Bunkle (Damon Wayans, Jr.) may not want anyone to know her name, but it only takes a few moments on screen to accurately assess what kind of character she is. He’s impulsive, somewhat lonely, and yearns to be a mysterious superspy.
Capricorns are best known for their independence, which means that they would make a great soulmate to Darlie Bunkle as she clearly relies on connections with others, even if she pretends not to be. Darlie Bunkle would complement any Capricorn pretty well.
two Aquarius: Richard Cheese
Aquarians are true originals with a penchant for being unwilling to change who they are as human beings. As such, your ideal soulmate would be someone who is almost like a chameleon – capable of fitting into any social setting.
Aquarians need someone who can balance their unshakable personalities. Richard Cheese (Mark Jonathan Davis), a lighthearted and eccentric pianist, would make a complementary soul mate to the Aquarians of the world, as he could artistically navigate the tangled intricacies of their stagnant personalities.
1 Pisces: Debbie
Returning to the Talking Club, Debbie (Vanessa Bayer) is the undisputed leader of the social organization. His rules for the club are inflexible and he can go quite deep when talking about the topics that matter most to him.
Debbie can certainly be a lot to handle and it seems like Pisces members would be the only ones capable of doing it. After all, representatives of Pisces are warm-hearted, warm-hearted humans who accept people as they come. The only soul mate of an uncompromising person is the welcoming one.
