The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have just been through a world of pain, and while that might not be anything new to them, this particular experience has left them in shock. After surviving one of the most brutal fights of their lives, everyone can finally hope for at least some sense of normalcy. Everyone except Jennika, that is.
Her sordid history is reaching out to her in truly terrifying ways, and is even threatening the future of the entire world. Jennika’s moment of self-pity turns into one of reflection rather than some harsh words provided by one of her oldest enemies, though what she says doesn’t just leave an impact on Jen. All the turtles will have to face their darkest moments if they want to move forward in a meaningful way, and we’ve divided them all here.

Donatello
Donatello might be the best adapted of all the Ninja Turtles, which is surprising considering everything that has happened. During the 2014 “Attack on Technodrome” storyline, Donatello and Leonardo came up with a plan that would have seen Shredder and Krang kill each other and end the impending crisis. When the Shredder discovered the Turtles’ deception, he ordered Bebop and Rocksteady to kill Donatello, and the two of them almost succeeded. The fight that followed was gruesome, things only got worse when Rocksteady dealt a near fatal blow to the Turtle with a sledgehammer, breaking his shell before the two villains left him for dead.
Miguel Angel
Michelangelo’s generally upbeat demeanor has gone a long way toward making him a fan favorite. It also overshadows the immense loss that Michelangelo has suffered throughout his relatively short life. Mikey was the only member of the Splinter Clan to actually make a connection to the mutant snapping turtle Slash. Although their first encounter was violent, the two would eventually form as close a friendship as any before Slash was turned into an unwitting weapon by the Earth Protection Force. Michelangelo and Slash were able to share one last moment together before this last Turtle sacrificed himself to save thousands of lives.
Raphael
Rafael’s petty demeanor contrasts with the rest of his brother, although he has certainly earned it. Raphael was separated from his family during the course of his mutation following an attack by a similarly mutated stray cat. Rafael was able to escape on his own, but this only left him alone and scared as he continued to transform. The first days of his life as a mutant were spent homeless on the streets, his only friend being another homeless man named Buck, who was murdered shortly after they met. Between such a traumatic origin and seeing the same cat that caused all that pain to create Mutant Town through an act of terror, Raphael could very well have more damage to solve than any of his siblings.
Leonardo
Leonardo was born a natural leader, and that trait has gotten him into almost as much trouble as it has gotten him out of there. When Leo was kidnapped and brainwashed into the last chūnin of the Foot Clan, the Shredder’s influence was almost more than he could overcome. The spirit of his mother, Tang Shen, helped guide him back to the front of his own mind. Unfortunately, this also left Leonardo dependent on her for quite some time. Eventually, Leo would work through this fight as well, learning to make peace with the blood he had spilled, particularly Koya’s. In almost every encounter she had with the Foot-affiliated mutant, Leonardo left her seriously injured, from taking her ability to speak by breaking her aorta to literally cutting off her wings. The scars left by his history of destruction aren’t what Leo wears on his sleeve, but that doesn’t mean they don’t weigh too heavily on him.
Alopex
Alopex’s early days were spent revered as a skilled hunter by the other animals of the Alaskan wilderness, except for a massive polar bear, the only creature Alopex feared prior to its mutation. After being captured by a group of scientists and experienced, Alopex was granted human intelligence before her body went through a similar change. She would be saved from the laboratory where she was put through endless tests not by any hero, but by the Shredder. When Shredder felt disloyalty in his new theme, he forced her to watch as he burned the forest he once called home. Now, seeing his new master as he had once seen the dreaded bear, Alopex vowed to kill him one day. That vow was never fulfilled, although Alopex has more than redeemed itself. Still, the suffering he endured at the hands of Oroku Saki, later the witch Kitsune, has left a remarkable impression on the arctic fox.
Lita
Lita, the youngest of the Splinter Clan, grew up surrounded by the other Turtles. In fact, she is growing up surrounded by them while fighting alongside them. An adult Lita has returned from the future in hopes of saving her, as well as her family, from the horrors that await her. She has detailed exactly how the Splinter Clan falls and where each of her mentors ends up in her own dark timeline. The mission you’ve taken on might be the most important Clan Splinter has ever been entrusted with, assuming that the events you’ve highlighted will truly determine the fate of the world entirely. There are still many unanswered questions about Lita’s life, but if she is able to do what she did again, those answers will change for the better anyway.
