The developers behind the recently released Oddworld: Soulstorm have warned players about two potential bugs that can cause serious problems for players.
The developer behind Oddworld: Soulstorm warned gamers about two major bugs that cause crashes and require a reboot if found. The latest game in the nearly 25-year-old series released Tuesday after more than half a decade in development. It directly continues the story of its predecessor. Oddworld: New and tasty! but it also acts as a soft reset of the original Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus. This April, PS Plus members can download Oddworld: Soulstorm title as part of your subscription at no additional cost.
Oddworld: Soulstorm It is not the only release in the series to arrive this year. Oddworld: Soulstorm developer Inhabitants of Oddworld warned players about a duo of bugs plaguing the game, one of which was capable of deleting save files. The studio explained on Twitter that it had discovered a bug that could delete all save data at the end of the game, but the team worked during the Easter holidays to fix the potential corruption of the problem. However, the bug can still cause PlayStation 4 players to experience a crash, although it should only occur once. The developers also explained that another glitch could result in Abe getting stuck in a frozen state, although reloading the last checkpoint should fix the problem. Oddworld Inhabitants confirmed that it is working on a more comprehensive patch that should permanently address both issues.
We have a quick update for all of you. Last week, we encountered a late-stage game freeze bug that was clearing game save data. It was rare and difficult to reproduce and we were worried about missing out on launch day. But we fixed it and patched it for the game on Easter Sunday.

Although this small handful of bugs is variably minor or rare, Oddworld: Soulstorm It’s not the only game that has had some issues with launch day in the last week. Square Enix and People Can Fly’s Outriders is having a difficult launch, with the title experiencing major server outages and a widely reported crash wiping out all player inventories. This has soured the experience for many even though the game enjoys a generally positive reception for its game and its story. In comparison with Outriders and people like Cyberpunk 2077Oddworld Inhabitants deserves a pat on the back for its relatively smooth launch status.
Historically and with increasing frequency, it is not unusual for games to have issues with bugs and crashes on launch. This normal problem has been compounded by development in the COVID-19 era, making it difficult for developers and publishers to effectively test their releases before they go out to the general public. In this case, the study has been honest and open with players, explaining exactly how it intends to fix the problem and how players can fix it for now. It’s a refreshing approach that other studies should take note of.
Oddworld: Soulstorm is available now for PS5, PS4 and PC.
