After driving around for a bit, the two demo players stumble upon an abandoned farm where the players set off a security alarm that they are unable to deactivate. This quickly attracts unwanted attention from both zombies and other players.
The proof seems to continue to reinforce that The day before you will have a very interactive and reactive world. Having things that would otherwise be normal, like house alarms, turn into a life-and-death situation certainly raises the stakes for the game. Whether it can truly live up to the quality shown in these highly controlled gameplay parts in the final version remains to be seen, but the constant stream of gameplay trailers suggests that FNTASTIC is confident in what it does. The day before is entering a highly contested genre, however, as DayZ creator Dean Hall recently revealed his new game, Icarus, which has its own lofty ambitions and has received quite a positive response so far.
Despite FNTASTIC claiming that these are in-game footage, there is still concern whether an independent developer who has consistently made much smaller games can deliver something that lives up to what is currently displayed. Gamer communities have been burned with games that promised too much and delivered far less, so healthy skepticism should come as no surprise. Hopefully a beta version or practical press impressions will arrive sooner rather than later to test or squash any doubts about The day before.
