Oscar-nominated documentary ‘Time’ now available for free on YouTube

The documentary is one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2020.


Filling out your Oscar ballot just got a lot easier, as Amazon Prime just released the Academy Award-nominated documentary. Hour on YouTube for free. The movie is now available to all audiences, even if you don’t have a Prime Video subscription. At just 80 minutes, it’s a must-see before the awards ceremony, as well as one of the most original films of the year.

Produced and directed by Garrett bradley, Hour follow the story of Sibil Fox Richardson as she fights for the release of her husband, Rob, who is serving a 60-year prison sentence for his involvement in an armed robbery. Fox herself served three and a half years for her role in the crime. Shot in black and white Hour Combine original footage with home videos for an intimate and moving story about love, guilt, responsibility, and justice. Its deeply felt universality is outstanding, achieved through Bradley’s skillful combination of emotion and evidence. It is impossible not to watch Time and feel intense pain and anger.

The film had a fantastic run on the film festival circuit last year and received rave reviews from critics. Hour It has already received a host of awards this season, including the Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Documentary. Our top film critic Matt Goldberg named it the eighth best movie of the year and called it “a damning portrait of America.” It’s certainly a favorite for the Best Documentary Film award, but it’s up against the other fantastic entries, including Collective, Camp Crip, The mole agent, Y My octopus teacher.

Hour It will most likely only be available on YouTube for a limited time, as it is likely intended to increase the visibility and excitement of the film, as the Academy Awards voting is currently underway (which begins day 15 and ends on 20). This is one of the first times in Oscar history that most of the nominated films are available on streaming services or on demand, so viewing these incredible works has never been easier.
