Zombie Land Saga fans can see Franchouchou in (un) real life


Franchouchou from Zombie Land Saga is just the latest idol anime group to make the leap into real life.

Zombie Land Saga is seeping into reality with the advent of the series idol group Franchouchou in real life. The voice actors of the show’s zombie girls perform live for fans of the show at events. However, this is not a new trend, it dates back to when Creamy mommy It was at its peak in 1983.

Described as “media mix,” it is a marketing strategy that has led to the rise of rising idols taking on voice acting roles to launch their careers. Zombie Land Saga is just one of the many idol anime that make use of this tactic, with other titles such as Senki Zesshou Symphogear, Love Live! The group went through two temporary names before finally landing on Franchouchou. The first was “Death Musume” or “Daughters of Death” and the second was “Green Face”, referring to the undead skin tones of girls. The group landed on “Franchouchou” when Sakura insisted that the group’s name begin with “Fran-” with the rest completed by the sound of Tae’s sneezing. This is the name they have stuck with ever since and the name that voice actors perform by. It is speculated that the part “Fran-” was going to be a tribute to Frankenstein, as the girls are brought back from the dead while the “chuu” part is the Japanese onomatopoeia for kissing.

Franchouchou’s voice actresses, Kaede Hondo, Asami Tano, Risa Taneda, Maki Kawase, Rika Kinugawa, and Minami Tanaka, have participated in live events since the anime began, usually wearing some of their character on the show. During these performances, girls sing and dance anime songs while wearing costumes that are exact replicas or inspired by those worn in the series. They even go so far as to replicate the collapse of the stage during their performance of “Yomigaere.”

This is done by using smoke machines and lights to replicate the effect of the snow while the girls act as if they have fallen due to the force of the falling stage.
