VIDEO: Falcon and Winter Soldier – Explanation of the origin of Battlestar

In this exclusive new video, CBR delves into the origin of Lemar Hoskins / Battlestar, who plays a major role in Falcon and Winter Soldier.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 4, “The Whole World Is Watching,” which is now airing on Disney +.

An important character in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Lemar Hoskins / Battlestar was introduced as an ally of John Walker / Captain America. While Hoskins met an untimely fate in the series’ latest episode, there is a lot to the character from the comics, and that could play a role in his possible return. In this new video, we’re going to break down what you need to know about Battlestar.

Created by Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary, Hoskins first appeared in 1986 Captain America # 323. In that story, Hoskins was a Bold Urban Commando. At the time, Hoskins apparently disagreed with Walker, who called himself the Super-Patriot. However, it was eventually revealed that the Bold Urban Commandos (or “Buckies”) were working to boost Walker’s reputation. And these machinations worked.

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, it is not entirely clear what form the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there is a good indication that the characters Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will be arriving soon, there isn’t much solid information on when or how that might happen. Right now, there are many potential directions the MCU could take in the future, although exactly which one it will take remains to be seen.

Created by Malcolm Spellman and directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Adepero Oduye, Florence Kasumba, and Daniel Brühl. New episodes debut Fridays on Disney +.
