The images of season 2 of ‘Never Have I Ever’ are common welcome to the Netflix series

The Mindy Kaling-produced Netflix series returns for a new season in July.

I have never had common social characteristics

Netflix has released first-look footage for the second season of I have never, along with the news that the rapper / actor Common He will be joining the cast in a recurring guest role. Common will play Dr. Chris Jackson, a charismatic dermatologist who seems poised to be a rival to Nalini, played by Poorna Jagannathan, the mother of the show’s main character, Devi (Maitreyi ramakrishnan).

In season 1, the show addressed the loss of Mohan (Sendhil Ramamurthy), Devi’s father and Nalini’s husband. As Devi navigated the struggles of trying to be popular and finding love in high school, her mother backed off, trying to get her daughter to focus on school, study, and success. It is debatable that her father’s death played at least a role in Devi’s desire to pursue popularity and a love life, while Nalini’s hyper-focus on her daughter’s success may have been a way of dealing with her pain without face it head-on.

So what will Common’s character bring to the table in the upcoming season? It’s hard to know for sure, but Devi’s friend-foe-turned-love-interest relationship with her classmate Ben in season one could be heralding a similar turn of events for Nalini and Dr. Jackson. Nalini may start off cold (as this still image of her frowning in disapproval at Dr. Jackson shows), but will her charming demeanor and captivating smile help melt your heart?

I have never is a coming-of-age comedy from executive producers Mindy kaling Y Lang fisher. The second season of I have never is scheduled to premiere in July on the streaming service. Check out the new images for the upcoming season below.
