The Wild At Heart is a whimsical adventure reminiscent of titles like Pikmin and is sure to win over players when it launches in May.

It’s been a while since we’ve been annoyed with the trailer for the Moonlight Kids announcement. The savage at heartBut the team behind its production and release recently announced a release date. Featured at a recent ID @ Xbox event, The savage at heart oozes fantasy and wonder and has the potential to be one of the biggest surprise hits of the year.

With its launch just around the corner, fans won’t have to wait much longer to jump into the mysterious and magical city of Willowvale and experience the survival puzzle game. Fortunately, in addition to a recent trailer, a demo was also released.

The trailer teased players with visuals and audio that really set the tone for the game; a richly illustrated game world with a distinctive art style and character design that captures childhood fantasy and sense of adventure. Perfectly complementing this is an ethereal yet folk sound ensemble that evokes an air of mystery and intrigue. In it we see the protagonist wake up and present himself with the need to explore the forest: his trusty vacuum cleaner and a squad of spritelings in tow. Wake, the main character of the game, seems to be able to give orders to his spritelings just like Olimar with his Pikmin.

The game focuses on the picturesque and charming town of Willowvale, whose labyrinthine forests and precarious seaside cliffs make it the perfect setting for adventure and exploration. Following the exploits of resident curious boy Wake, players take control of the introverted 12-year-old as he heads into the woods with his best friend Kirby. After the two decide to flee, they find themselves in a world of magic and conflict. They discover a collective of magical forest-dwelling creatures dedicated to protecting the forest who are on the brink of social collapse and it’s up to the duo to restore the bewildered order of the Green Shields before the devourer never takes over the world. once they tried to leave behind.

How to play

With a focus on exploration, The savage at heart it really brings the game’s rich hand-drawn environments to the limelight. Players can establish base camps in different parts of the game world, find and utilize resources of varying rarity, gain the trust of strange and fantastic creatures, and find treasures and artifacts from ancient shrines. Gathering materials plays a crucial role as the player needs to search to create the tools they need to progress. Items, upgrades, and structures can be improvised from things you can find in the game world.

The player also has the help of adorable spritelings that can help fight other creatures or open new areas previously unexplored. Cute and quirky creatures are reminiscent of Pikmin, or even the Kodama of Princess mononoke. As players get more spritelings with different abilities, they may want to revisit previously explored areas to see what their new friends can discover for them. Wake also has a reliable vacuum pack that can blow or suck objects, which will be indispensable for the adventure ahead.

Release date

A demo version of the game was also made available at the 2019 Game Developers Conference, where The Wild at Heart captured the hearts of attendees with its charm and enchanting visuals. The demo, while in the early stages of game development, was developed long enough and it wasn’t much different than what was released in the trailer for the recent release date.

Pre-orders for the game are currently available on the Humble Games website. The savage at heart It will be released on May 20, 2021 and will be available for PC and Xbox One.
