While MG and Josie now attend Mystic Falls High, they are busy in different parts of the school during “All is well, that ends well.” While MG and Ethan spend most of their free time together, Lizzie learns that Josie has a crush on Finch from his father and confronts Josie in the hallways about it. Josie asked Alaric for advice about Finch in Legacies‘previous episode and Lizzie can’t believe that Josie would tell her father about her crush before her twin sister. Still, Lizzie is there to make sure Josie catches the girl and comes up with an elaborate romantic comedy-inspired plan to make this happen.
After being inundated with all the details, Josie becomes frustrated and simply goes to ask Finch on a date that night. But to Josie’s surprise, Finch says she’s busy that night, and the next too. Before Josie can respond, Finch awkwardly walks away from her. Josie and Lizzie come to the same conclusion: Finch is dating someone else. Lizzie agrees to find out who, prompting her to stay at Mystic Falls High until late at night.
At the same time, MG and Ethan look forward to the opportunity to fight crime. After getting injured and being banned from the soccer team, Ethan feels that being MG’s fellow superhero gives him something meaningful to be a part of. Although MG has his doubts, he understands where Ethan is coming from, so he agrees to stay with him and wait for something to go through his mother’s police scanner. The problem is, there isn’t that much crime in Mystic Falls, so instead of jumping into the action, the couple fall asleep in Ethan’s truck and wake up after the sun goes down.
Something has finally turned up on the police scanner about an alarm that went off at Mystic Falls High. And when the officer comments that false alarms happen at the school about once a month and MG notices that the full moon is shining on him, he adds two and two: there is a werewolf somewhere on the school grounds. Ethan wants to go see him, but knowing how dangerous a potential werewolf could be, MG insults Ethan and runs off to prevent him from getting into a situation he might not be able to handle. After all, Ethan doesn’t know about the existence of werewolves, and MG wants him to stay that way.
Meanwhile, Lizzie made herself invisible and followed Finch, who is in the process of being chained up at school. Unfortunately, Finch can smell Lizzie and the distraction makes it impossible for Finch to contain himself in time. Instead, he yells at Lizzie to run and makes the transition while Lizzie locks herself in a classroom. Lizzie is surprised when MG opens the door moments later. MG explains that he lured the wolf so Lizzie has enough time to run out the back while MG leads the wolf to the front.
The plan works, but since werewolves and vampires are natural enemies, the wolf continues to hunt MG. MG walks through a group of parked yellow school buses when the wolf approaches one and attacks, tackling MG with a flying leap. This sequence feels like a tribute to Teen wolf since it looks more like that show than a scene from Legacies.
Even though both shows focus on a high school populated by supernatural creatures, Legacies‘The Salvatore school is far from traditional. There are no buses, lockers, or many other typical high school settings at the school. Even the classrooms look gothic and moody. However, Teen wolfBeacon Hills High has all the expected high school trim, including prominently placed school buses. In fact, many Teen wolfThe action happened on or around school buses, whether the characters were traveling to a lacrosse game in one or jumping over one to attack an opponent.
As a result, MG’s confrontation with a werewolf near a group of yellow buses takes on the distinctive feel of a Teen wolf episode. This is especially true since Legacies he often doesn’t pay much attention to werewolves in their wolf state. So it’s noteworthy that the show featured a new werewolf and that the werewolf is a student at Mystic Falls High.
Ultimately, it is Ethan who comes to MG’s rescue, taking down the wolf with a stick and proving that he is more than worthy of being his partner in superheroes. Meanwhile, Lizzie lies to Josie about Finch, telling her that he’s with someone else and that he seems serious, an attempt to protect her sister from the supernatural forces she’s been so desperate to escape from. Still, Finch’s status as a werewolf is a huge reveal and is likely to eventually affect all of the characters, including Josie.
Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Quincy Fouse, Aria Shahghasemi, Peyton Alex Smith, Matt Davis, Chris Lee, Ben Levin, and Leo Howard. The new episodes air Thursdays at 9 pm ET / PT on The CW.
