Big shot tells the story of Marvyn Korn, a renowned NCAA men’s basketball coach. Unfortunately, Korn is as well known for his obsessive passion and temperament as he is for the successes of his team. With no other opportunities presented, he is forced to take a coaching job at Westbrook High, an elite private school for girls.

In a genre-traditional way, Korn’s abrasive style clashes with the attitudes of both his players and his colleagues. In an equally common move, each new circle Korn finds himself in is made up of an eclectic mix of personalities. With each character harboring secrets and life stories that will fuel action and excitement for weeks to come, here’s a breakdown of characters and the mix of familiar and new actors who play them.
John Stamos as Marvyn Korn
Stamos plays the infamous and temperamental coach. He comes to Westbrook believing his old ways will suffice. However, over the course of the first episode, he realizes that a more empathetic approach may be the key. – not only to success, but also to redemption and the kind of man he always wanted to be. Stamos’ long career means he has a lot of credits to his name. More recently, these include the Fuller House rebirth and a role on Netflix Your.
Jessalyn Gilsig as Holly Barrett
Holly serves as Korn’s assistant coach. Already established in Westbrook, she demonstrates a source of knowledge about the school and the team’s players. Likewise, despite his good humor, he presents himself as a versatile person and without easy prey. Gilsig is perhaps best known for her fan favorite portrayal as Gina in Nip / Tuck. He also enjoyed a prominent role in Joy.
Nell Verlaque as Louise Gruzinsky
Number 23, Louise is the star player for the Westbrook Sirens. Likewise, she is the daughter of the school’s main donor. – with the gym even named after his family. As a result, his outspoken attitude crosses the line into arrogance. After being one of the first to suffer Korn’s direct wrath, the show reveals that there is more to her than meets the eye. Verlaque is a newcomer, with her most important roles as a guest in bull and a handful of TV movies.
Tiana Le as Destiny Winters
As the team’s lucky number 13, Destiny is a resident Power Forward and one of the strongest players. Almost immediately, it also clashes with Korn’s abrupt style. – when he points to her relative to her weight. The episode also establishes an academic momentum that hides an ongoing problem for the next few episodes. Le’s recent appearances include those on HBO Unsafe.
Monique Green as Olive Cooper
With an intense dislike for whistling and no aversion to confrontation, Olive is one of the first to despise the school’s new coach. He wears the number 4 jersey and, since the first episode, little is currently known about his life story. As one of the strongest personalities on the team, that will likely change sooner rather than later. Green’s previous credits include a variety of acclaimed series, including dramas like We are and sitcoms like Blackish.
Tisha Eve Custodio as Carolyn “Mouse” Smith
With the number 10, Carolyn is the accommodating resident of the team. To that end, she serves as the devil’s defender, defending Korn to his various teammates. Likewise, she goes above and beyond to earn and retain his accolades. He also goes out of his way to make sure his friends are okay. Big shot marks Custodio’s television debut, although he appears in several short films – even About last summer, which she wrote, produced and directed.
Cricket Wampler as Samantha “Giggles” Finkman
Number 11 on the team, Samantha briefly takes over from Louise when she is suspended. Although he did not refer to her as such in Big shotIn the first episode, Samantha is credited with the nickname Giggles. This undoubtedly stems from his medical condition: pseudobulbar affect, which is defined by uncontrollable laughter. Samantha admits, however, that she is not above exploiting him for academic gain. The series also alludes to the character’s possible struggles with his sexuality. Wampler previously starred in the About a boy Serie.
Sophia Mitri Schloss as Emma Korn
Emma is the adoring daughter of Korn. Despite living on the opposite coast, he has been shown to call him every night and express a keen interest in him being the best version of himself. Extremely imaginative and mocking in her sarcasm, the next few episodes see her wanting to move to Westbrook. That decision and Korn’s reluctance will likely make the jovial father-daughter dynamic more tense, especially with Korn bonding more closely with his players. Schloss’s previous credits include Portlandia and an early episode of Grimm.
Yvette Nicole Brown as Sherilyn Thomas
Last but definitely not least, Sherilyn is the principal at Westbrook High. She only hired Korn reluctantly, due to outside influence, she sees it as a budding mistake for the school. Bumping into Korn regarding some of her decisions and methods, she is known for being level-headed. However, it became clear that she was primarily driven by a heart of gold, wanting only the best and most positive role models for her students. In particular, Brown played Shirley in Community for five seasons. Around that, however, the actress racked up a slew of credits, including a crowd-pleasing cameo in Avengers Endgame.
Supporting characters and cameos
Richard Robichaux as George Pappas: Westbrook Guidance Counselor George did not appear in the first episode. However, it will be a recurring counterpoint in the coming weeks. Robichaux appears alongside the star-studded cast of Eight of the ocean.
Keala Settle as Christina Winters: Christina is Destiny’s mother. Settle is the actress and singer who plays the bearded woman, Lettie Lutz, in Best showman.
Michael Trucco as Larry Gruzinsky: Laura’s authoritarian father, who tries to use his considerable wealth to influence things at Westbrook. Trucco’s previous appearances include How i met your mother and will soon appear in the next Netflix series. Midnight mass.

Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon as themselves: Sports analysts and ESPN anchors made a cameo as themselves, shown arguing and lamenting Korn’s fate on their show.
Composed of 10 episodes, Big shot It will certainly offer plenty of space for each of the above to shine. Similarly, there will undoubtedly be a number of other characters that will come in and out of the story. Although the show doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel when it comes to sports dramatizations, it does serve as a decent accompaniment to such as Cobra Kai and another Disney show The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Similarly, it differs well by focusing primarily on women’s sports and personal issues. As such, Big shotThe cast and characters will offer a lot for a new fan demographic to relate to and fall in love with.
