Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated the initial flight of NASA’s Mars helicopter wit with some classic lines from Full recovery Y Predator. On Monday, Ingenuity completed a successful first flight on the distant planet, rising ten feet into the air where it hovered and snapped a photo before landing again on the surface of Mars.
Before the flight, Arnold schwarzenegger He took to Twitter to wish NASA luck with the helicopter. In the video clip, Schwarzenegger first calls Full recovery, Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 sci-fi film that starred Arnold as a man taking a virtual vacation to Mars (which goes horribly wrong). From the clip:
“When I heard about this helicopter trip to Mars, I was so excited that I immediately thought, ‘Take your butt to Mars!’ But then I thought, ‘They’re already on Mars, what the hell am I talking about?’ “.
Since we are talking about Mars, it was natural for Schwarzenegger to think first of Full recovery, even if he quickly realized that it might not be the perfect line to quote in this situation. That would fall into his legendary line of Predator, which remains one of Schwarzenegger’s most quotable lines to this day.
“I can’t wait for all the images … so I think the only thing I can say since we’re dealing with a helicopter is … What do you think? Yes. Go to the helicopter!”
A tweet from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory replied: “You heard @schwarzenegger. Catch up! DO IT! DO IT NOW! WE’RE WAITING!”
“Now we can say that humans have flown a helicopter on another planet,” said MiMi Aung, Ingenuity project manager at JPL, also of the successful flight. “We’ve been talking about our Wright brothers moment on another planet for so long. And now, here it is.”
If NASA encounters aggressive Martians, or if any other kind of alien invasion is heading towards Earth, Schwarzenegger will be ready to answer the call. Last month, a study in the UK ranked Arnold # 1 as the most suitable celebrity or public figure to defend against an alien invasion. Once he heard the news, Schwarzenegger took to Twitter to declare that he was ready to lead the charge against any hostile aliens should the worst-case scenario come true.
“I want to thank people for putting their faith in me. I am ready to serve,” said Schwarzenegger.
We could also be seeing Schwarzenegger again on the big screen as part of the Expendable Supply Items franchise soon enough. According to Randy Couture, the planned sequel will shoot later this year with a new script currently in the works. So as long as his friend Sylvester Stallone is back, it seems more than likely that Schwarzenegger will return as well. The actor was last seen in 2019. Terminator: Dark Fate and will appear as the president in the upcoming martial arts comedy movie. Kung Fury 2 with David Sandberg and Michael Fassbender.
