Blades in the Dark, a TTRPG set in a dark, humid and steamy city, is the perfect complement to cap off a Shadow & Bone marathon with Dregs fans.

The Six of crows Y Crooked kingdom duology was originally established a couple of years after the events of the Shadow and bone trilogy in the same industrial magic universe. The books followed the Dregs, a group of young but extremely skilled criminals capable of carrying out the most daring heist in world history with a lot of wit, skill, guts and just a hint of undeveloped Grisha powers, and unlike Shadow and bone, most of the Ravens did not have magical abilities.

However, what the Dregs lacked in powers they made up for in daring, and this was worthy of a dark and steampunky tabletop RPG known as Blades in the dark, a multiplayer game that takes old-school gamers into dark streets filled with treacherous assassins, ruthless nobles, and magical conspiracies, all healthy staples of life. Six of crows diet. Yes Six of crows read as a long and satisfying Dungeons and Dragons heist campaign, what if D and D Players were allowed to keep an extra D20 up their sleeve and could blackmail the DM, then Blades in the dark it is perfect.

Blades in the dark is described as a “tabletop role-playing game about a group of daring scoundrels seeking their fortune on the haunted streets of an industrial fantasy city. There are robberies, chases, hidden mysteries, dangerous deals, bloody skirmishes, and most of all, riches that they can be obtained, if you are brave enough to seize them “

If this sounds exactly like the plot of Six of crows, it’s because it is. In both the books and the Netflix show, the Dregs are young men of questionable morals, except for Inej, who is the conscience of the group, with a skill set more suited to them. Assassin’s creed or Fallen london than a classic epic fantasy.

There’s Kaz, the ruthless leader of the group and owner of The Crow, a profitable but seedy bar; Inej, a stunt-trained spy killer hired by a brothel, and Jesper, a charismatic sniper with a gambling addiction. His scenes in the first two episodes of the series would work like a spectacular TTRPG, or even a fast and furious card RPG like Coup or Love Letter, where everyone has a terrible weakness, a burning thirst for revenge, and a secret agenda. that could endanger your group.

Fans of the show would find it relatively easy to recreate their favorites on Blades in the dark, as the game comes with ready-made character archetypes: Cutter, Hound, Leech, Lurk, Slide, Spider, and Whisper and different types of crews, depending on the player’s favorite illegal activity, including Assassins, Braves, Hawkers, Shadows , Smugglers and even the ability to create your own cult.

What’s even more interesting is that the character’s position at any given time is just as important as his skill scores. For example, a desperate character will have less chance of achieving his ideal result, while a controlled character will have more cards up his sleeve. Like anyone who has ever seen Shadow and bone, the Dregs’ ability to think out of risky situations diminishes as their minds play tricks on them or are overwhelmed by their thirst for revenge.

Fans of the books will also be able to channel their inner Wylan, the lovable bomber, with alchemical specializations, and even craft their own Necromantic Heart Surrender at home if they wish. Just imagine that instead of Doskvol, the name of the city is Ketterdam and you will be ready to face the worst of the nightlife.

A 21 Laps Entertainment Netflix production of Shawn Levy, Eric Heisserer, Leigh Bardugo, Pouya Shahbazian and Lee Toland Krieger, Shadow and Bone stars Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov), Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), Ben Barnes (General Kirigan), Sujaya Dasgupta (Zoya Nazyalensky), Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik), Daisy Head (Genya Safin), Simon Sears (Ivan), Calahan Skogman (Matthias) Helvar), Zoƫ Wanamaker (Baghra), Kevin Eldon (The Apparat), Julian Kostov (Fedyor), Luke Pasqualino (David), Jasmine Blackborow (Marie) and Gabrielle Brooks (Nadia).
