Devon Aoki only played Suki in 2 Fast 2 Furious before disappearing from the franchise. Why didn’t the actress repeat the role since 2003?

Suki was a key ally of Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) in 2 Fast 2 Furious, but the character has not appeared in any installments since her debut in the franchise in 2003. Devon Aoki played the prominent female host who encountered Brian through the Miami street racing scene. Despite being Tej Parker’s (Ludacris) love interest in The fast and the furiousIn the follow-up, Suki received a concise bow in The Fast Saga.

After helping Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) escape, Brian fled to Miami to evade his former employers, the LAPD. To earn money, Brian used his Nissan Skyline in illegal street races organized by Tej, who was still working as a mechanic at the time. At one point, Brian raced against Orange Julius (Amaury Nolasco), Slap Jack (Michael Ealy) and Suki, who notably drove their hot pink 2000 Honda S2000 convertible. In addition to participating in races orchestrated by Tej, Suki also assisted Brian and Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) when the duo needed to avoid being tracked down by US Customs agents. In the warehouse “car fight” scene, Suki was driving Brian’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII while Tej was driving Roman’s Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS. Officers unknowingly followed the cars, thinking Brian and Roman were behind the wheel. Although Tej and Roman returned to the franchise four more installments, with another on the way, Aoki never reprized his role. The Fast Saga also didn’t reveal the character’s fate, nor why she and Tej broke up their relationship forever. Of course, the actress had a good reason to remain absent in the subsequent sequels.

Fast and Furious

In addition to his role in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Aoki was known for her performances in DEBS Y Sin City during the early 2000s. After that, she only appeared in a handful of movies before retiring from acting full-time in 2009 to focus on raising her four children. Since then, Aoki has appeared in some music videos and documentaries, such as the one from 2016. I’ll sleep when I’m dead who followed his half brother, DJ Steve Aoki.

With Tej and Roman still vital members of The Fast Saga and the franchise’s efforts to tie up loose ends, it’s very possible that Aoki will appear before the series comes to an end. After the launch of F9, there will be two more installments before the conclusion of the main saga. If Suki doesn’t return for that story, she could also be involved in the development of the all-female spinoff. 2 Fast 2 Furious It might be close to two decades since its release, but Suki deserves a spot in the lineup. It would also be a treat for longtime fans to know what the character has been up to since the days of racing in his pink Honda.
