Glenn Close has expressed his desire to return to his iconic role as Disney villain Cruella de Vil, sparking a possible sequel idea he has.
Emma Stone will make her debut as Cruella de Vil this summer, but Disney’s original villain Glenn Close wants to repeat her. 101 Dalmatians role in a possible sequel, one for which he already has an idea. Stone’s movie, Cruellawill give an insight into the puppy-obsessed fashion icon’s origins, but Close will always be remembered for originating the live-action version of the character from the 1996 film. The opportunity to see Close again as Cruella is undoubtedly tantalizing. No matter what movie he’s in, Close can have a stellar performance, as evidenced by his recent Oscar nomination for Netflix. Hillbilly Elegy, a movie that was gutted by critics. Whether or not Disney accepts the idea remains to be seen, but the studio would be remiss in letting Close’s offer pass. Of course there are still Cruella deal with.
Fortunately, Stone seems more than capable of carrying the film, but Disney will likely assess the audience’s interest in the villain on whether or not that film is a critical and commercial success. While it appears to be an exciting addition to the Cruella mythology, no one does it quite like Close. The opportunity to see her prowling the streets of New York is one not to be overlooked and after her delivery 101 DalmatiansIt is clear that she is the perfect person for the role of Cruella.
