CBR presents an exclusive clip from Shudder’s latest original horror film, Fried Barry, of the film’s scruffy protagonist abducted by aliens.
Popular Horror Streaming Service, Shudder’s Latest Original Movie Fried barry has offered a preview of its eponymous protagonist making the first contact with the unknown.
As Barry walks down an empty street bathed in crimson light, he finds an invisible alien spaceship hovering directly above him. Looking up in silence, Barry soars skyward through a kind of tractor beam, beginning his cosmic odyssey towards a decidedly psychedelic effect, complete with neon lights and a pulsing synthetic wave soundtrack.
Produced in South Africa, Fried barry premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival in March 2020 before Shudder acquired the North American distribution rights for the horror comedy. Starring Gary Green, the film sees an alien use Barry’s body to better understand humanity, leading to a particularly creepy and mind-blowing adventure.
First reviews for Fried barry– including CBR’s own advance review – praised the film for drawing on the influences of the B-movie and grindhouse sensibilities. Green’s performance as Barry was praised for capturing the physical comedy and inhuman aspects of his performance, with Fried barryThe addition to Shudder’s library brings another genuine cult classic to the horror streaming service.
Directed and written by Ryan Kruger, Fried barry stars Gary Green, Brianna Hartenstein, Sean Cameron Michael, Chanelle de Jager, Joey Cramer, and Jonathan Pienaar. The movie is now available on Shudder.
