Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis reveals why Cletus Kasady will only speak to Eddie Brock about his murder spree.
Poison: let there be slaughter Director Andy Serkis revealed how Eddie Brock will be sucked into the world of Cletus Kasady in the sequel.
Serkis spoke with IGN on Sony’s next film after the release of the Poison 2 trailer for today. In addition to breaking some Easter eggs and confirming that Shriek will be in the movie, Serkis explained how exactly Venom and Carnage will go head-to-head.
“They both had strange upbringings with strange relationships with their parents and their families. And there is an inherent loneliness that they both recognize in each other,” Serkis said. “Cletus is actually coming over and will only talk to Eddie Brock. That’s at the beginning of the story, we learn that he’s the only one he’s going to talk to. And the police therefore want Eddie to come in, investigate and try to find out where some of the bodies are, some of the many bodies of the Cletus victims. “

While Eddie has to contain the symbiote so he doesn’t wreak havoc, he’s not exactly a hero. His interest in Cletus will be strictly professional, as Eddie is a journalist at heart. But when he takes on Carnage, an even less restrained symbiote, he will rise to the challenge and Venom will once again become a Provenomtector.
“He’s on a mission,” Serkis continued. “But also, he’s just selfish in the way that Eddie can be. He wants to get in there and maybe he can make a story, get back to what he wants to do the most, which is writing and the written word and being a journalist. So this It really establishes the confrontation, or the false relationship, that Eddie pretends to have with Cletus, in order to obtain information. “
“Cletus has an extraordinary imagination and a childlike but vivid mind, and he expresses himself by drawing,” Serkis said of the film’s villain. “His cell is completely covered with these really strange marks and expressions. It’s like his anger and frustration and his sadness and his despair and his loneliness.”
Directed by Andy Serkis, Poison: let there be slaughter stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock / Venom, Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady / Carnage, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Reid Scott as Dr. Dan Lewis, Naomie Harris, Stephen Graham, Sean Delaney, and Larry Olubamiwo. The film hits theaters on September 17.
