Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista explains how he has wanted to play Bane for one of Warner Bros. ‘DC movies and why he would be perfect for them.
Dave Bautista is currently known for his appearances throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Drax the Destroyer, who first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor recently expressed that there is a comic book character that he has longed to play for quite some time: Bane, one of Batman’s most iconic foes.
In an interview with Collider, Bautista explained that he had once introduced himself as Bane to Warner Bros., although there was not necessarily any project with Bane in development at the time. He said, “There are certain characters that I’ve held onto for the last 10, 20 years, and Bane was one of them. There is no discredit for Tom Hardy’s version of Bane, I love that performance, I love that movie. I would love to try it. ” He continued, “I think it could put an interesting twist on it and I think it could do the character justice. Not just in performance, but also physically.”

Bautista then offered an idea of what his portrayal of Bane would be like, saying, “I would love that role where I would have to go back to 320 pounds just to play this character, so it would happen. … to play Bane in a way. who is not only menacing and sinister, but also incredibly intelligent. Bane would be the type of character who is so threatening, so scary and intelligent, he would hardly ever raise his voice.
He compared his idea of Bane to Hinx, whom he played in the James Bond movie, Spectrum. “Mr. Hinx, he was so scary, his demeanor hardly ever changed. He was very happy to hit someone. He wasn’t too aggressive, he was just so confident in what he was doing. The way I perceive Bane was too. Him He would not only be physically superior, he would be mentally superior. “
The last decade has seen Bautista gain popularity as the gruff but compassionate Drax the Destroyer, who last appeared on Avengers Endgame. Drax will appear once more in the next Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which may be the final interpretation of Bautista as a character. He recently suggested that while he can’t play Drax, he would be happy to see the role go to someone else in future MCU movies.
