HBO Max has released the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited Friends: the reunion special, as well as the launch date of the program.

Among these guests are actors Tom Selleck and James Michael Tyler, who played Richard and Gunther, respectively, on the 1990s series. Other guest stars include David Beckham, Justin Bieber, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon, and Malala Yousafzai.

The reunion special was originally planned for release in conjunction with the launch of the HBO Max streaming service. However, the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and necessary health and safety restrictions forced a delay in production, which required a live studio audience. Production eventually took place on Stage 24, the original sound stage used for the show, for several months. Friends: the reunion finally wrapped up in April.

Friends ran from 1994 to 2004 for 10 seasons. The series has enjoyed continued popularity since its conclusion and gained a new cult following thanks to its availability on Netflix. All 236 episodes are currently available to stream on HBO Max.
