The latest Black Widow clip shows Nat and Yelena engaging in a car chase with a motorcyclist, highlighting a huge difference between the sisters.

A long awaited glimpse of Black Widow highlights the differences between Natasha Romanoff and her adoptive sister, Yelena Belova. The clip, released during the MTV Movie & TV Awards, shows the two sisters in a high-speed car chase with a woman on a motorcycle following their trail. The fans have been waiting Black widow long overdue, and a delay from its original May 2020 release has resulted in heightened enthusiasm for any new information Marvel may release ahead of its July release.

After Natasha’s heartbreaking death in Avengers Endgame, the Black widow Solo movie goes back in time to explore what happened to Natasha in the two years between Captain America: Civil War Y Avengers: Infinity War. The film will fill in the missing pieces surrounding Natasha’s past as she reunites with members of her Russian family. As that past comes back to haunt her, Natasha will have to face it to survive. Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, is a spy who grew up in the Red Room, the same Soviet training program as Natasha. Although their family dynamics may seem dysfunctional, their obvious care for each other bleeds through the Black widow trailers.

Although the clip is short, it does a lot to highlight the difference between Natasha and Yelena. The disputes throughout her escape are family-friendly in nature, but give audiences a glimpse of Yelena’s unique personality. While both sisters seem to dominate sarcasm, their approaches to handling enemies are markedly different. Next Civil war, Natasha knows there is merit in staying subtle and avoiding collateral damage. Natasha is known for being down-to-earth and calculating, so her natural inclination to sneak away quietly makes sense.

Natasha and Yelena in Black Widow

Yelena, however, takes a different approach to evade her pursuer. After Natasha’s attempts to evade the biker don’t work right away, Yelena’s impatience shines through and her quick joke of “Well your plan sucks” show a glimpse of your personality. His approach to tackling your problem is much simpler, even though his actions are risky. Kicking the car door manages to cut through her pursuer without causing too much collateral damage, implying that Yelena’s fighting style reflects her outspoken personality compared to Natasha’s calculated decisions.

This is where Yelena’s inexperience shines through compared to Natasha; In the comics, Yelena goes through the Red Room after Natasha has already left, which means she has much less experience in the field. This inexperience could easily lead her direct approach to recklessness, a trait that would be an interesting contrast against Natasha’s character. With Yelena poised to possibly take the helm as Black Widow, these differences become even more important; if she becomes the successor to the Black Widow, her recklessness could make the rest of the Avengers hesitate to accept her. Working closely with Nat and the rest of his team on Black widow it could be exactly what Yelena needs to get the experience she needs to carry on Natasha’s legacy.
