Roger Craig Smith will continue to voice Sonic the Hedgehog in various video game projects.
“I cannot express my gratitude for the [Sonic] team and community, “Smith tweeted.” I look forward to honoring your support and passion as I am officially back. [Sonic the Hedgehog] in games. I can’t wait for you to see what we have planned! THANK YOU … from the bottom of my blue heart. ”Smith’s tweet was accompanied by a picture of a broken blue heart stitched back together.

In January, Smith announced that he would no longer be playing Sonic after a decade of playing the character. He first voiced the fan-favorite hedgehog in Sonic Colors and continued to reprise the role in games including LEGO Dimensions Y Sonic forces. Smith has also voiced Sonic in projects like the Break up ralph movies and the Sonic boom animated series.

Craig recently introduced the Sonic Central Livestream, which revealed a series of Sonic-centric projects to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. This includes a two-part animated series. Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps (starring Smith) and Sonic Colors Latest, a new HD version of Sonic Colors.
