Lois, thanks to her investigations with the Stranger, finds information that suggests Edge is transplanting alien minds into human bodies. He encountered this in the past with Derek Powell, who had powers like Kal-El, as well as other assassins, including Edge’s assistant Larr.

Superman was also attacked by one of these soldiers at a military base, and Lois relates this to the unique machine from a few episodes ago. The public may have originally thought that he was just giving people abilities, but as Derek said, he didn’t feel like himself, so Lois makes this theory with her new X-Kryptonite finds in the mines of the town.
