Fans want to see the TV series Loki offer redemption to the Asgardian trickster, but the premiere confirms why the God of Mischief cannot be redeemed.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Loki Episode 1, “Glorious Purpose,” now airing on Disney +.
One of the things that many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans want to see in the Loki The television series is the redemption of the Asgardian. The God of Mischief has drawn the line between hero and villain in the books, and the cheater is atoning Thor: Ragnarok Y Avengers Endgame. However, as the series begins, it is clear that his ledger red cannot be erased.
While a prisoner at the Time Variance Authority, Mobius (Owen Wilson) interrogates Loki about the past. He also sees, through a film, the crimes he would have committed had he not escaped with the Tesseract in Endgame, and you are even surprised at how low it goes.
Thor and Odin might forgive Loki, but they are his family and, with their emotions, they will not be objective. However, Mobius is neutral and calls him on his BS, starting with him murdering Phil Coulson. The murder of Agent SHIELD was the catalyst for the Avengers’ reform, but he was still a hero who died in cold blood and was never able to truly resurrect. In fact, Coulson helped start the movement with Tony Stark for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. So if it had been Iron Man or Captain America lecturing Loki, they wouldn’t have let this slide.
Mobius then makes it clear that Loki’s ego is what really poisons him. You need constant attention. His narcissism means that he will endanger anyone to obtain the objects of his desire and win, based on the bet with the God of Thunder who saw him jeopardize a flight. It gets worse when Loki sees Frigga’s death, all because he sent Malekith’s forces for Thor. But instead they murder their adoptive mother. At this point, Loki realizes the reason Mobius has when they tell him that salvation is not possible.
Sure, you can try, but you’re just applying paint to a bloodstained wall. And by reconciling the chaos that it caused in Ragnarok And how, whatever happens Odin considers him a failure, Loki will always be blamed for his actions.
It’s about transparency and accountability, starting with the Chitauri and the invasion of Earth. However, Loki also helped start the search for Thanos. So while the public criticizes the Mad Titan, Loki has to be vilified. When Mobius reveals that another Loki is ruining the timeline, it’s safe to say that he will never change his true sadistic nature.
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus RSlaver, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15 and Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane and Eugene Cordero in undisclosed roles. The series premiered on June 9 on Disney +.
