Kevin Hart’s remake of Planes, Trains and Automobiles is still in process. The original comic film was released in 1987, starring Steve Martin and John Candy, who were praised for their comic dynamics and chemistry together. In the original Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Type A businessman Neal Page (Martin) ‘s plans to return home to be with his family on Thanksgiving are jeopardized when a freak snowstorm diverts his flight in the wrong direction. He finds himself trapped in a room with the talkative shower curtain salesman Del Griffith (Candy), and together they must navigate public transportation to find their way home.

Hart confirms that his production company HartBeat Productions is developing a Planes, Trains and Automobiles Redo. He said Collider who is working on the project together with Will Smith. The actor said that at this point they are still trying to nail down the story and setting. Hart was sure to reiterate that if the project happens, it will be much later.

Planes, trains and automobiles, we are trying to figure it out. Will and I are interested. Right now it’s on the table. The world of development is long and we know that IP is there. Everybody was willing to let us in, but we have to crack the code of what story it is and what world we will make it in and how we can make it fit better with Will and me. Hart hinted that he and Smith would play the lead roles in the film. He didn’t specify who would play the role of Martin and who would take the role of Candy, but it would be just as fun with Hart and Smith playing either of them thanks to their comedic skills. HartBeat Productions’ president of film and television also chimed in, stating that he was in “deep development.“However, like Hart, he expressed that his Planes, Trains and Automobiles the remake will be “amazing“if they are able to carry it out.
