In his article on the Netflix / Amblin partnership, Term revealed that this agreement does not mean that Netflix will automatically get the first stake in movies produced by Amblin. Instead, some of Steven Spielberg’s films will remain on Universal Pictures and others will be released on Netflix. Amblin already had some established ties to Netflix, as he co-produced The Chicago 7 trial, which was originally supposed to be released in theaters by Paramount Pictures, but was later acquired by the streaming service. The two companies also collaborate on Teacher, the Leonard Bernstein film starring Bradley Cooper that is in pre-production.
