Sylvie, the latest villainous addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Disney + Loki, gets an up-close look at a new feature film.
A new Marvel short delves into the enigmatic Variant known as Sylvie from the hit Disney + streamer Loki.
In the one minute clip posted on Marvel’s Youtube Channel, actors Sophia Di Martino and Tom Hiddleston along with director / executive producer Kate Herron provide insight into the new character who is part Loki and part Enchantress. The video makes it clear that while the character may be influenced by the pre-existing god of mischief and other sources from the comics, he is also very much his own person.
“It was very helpful to hear Tom talk about mischief because she’s another version of Loki,” says Di Martino, “but it was important to make sure she was unique.”
There are a few clips of Sylvie from the upcoming episodes, including a younger version and a photo of her wearing the same necklace Loki previously wore in the series and flanked by hunters from Time Variance Authority. Herron adds, “The audience will be intrigued by Sylvie’s arc and story. It really sets the stage for this character.”
Loki himself seems excited about the character development. “Sylvie is going to jump into the MCU with extraordinary energy,” Hiddleston promises. “Expect the unexpected.”
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane, and Eugene Cordero. New episodes air Wednesdays on Disney +.
