HBO Max announced the premiere episode of the series of its Gossip Girl reboot will air on The CW one day after the show premieres on the streaming platform.
The first episode will have a special broadcast on The CW Network on Friday, July 9 at 8 p.m., according to a new press release. After the broadcast, the episode will also be available to stream on The CW app and on CWTV.com free.
The original Gossip Girl The series was based on the novel series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar, and focused on Upper East Siders Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and their friends. It debuted in 2007 on The CW and ran for six seasons before being canceled in 2012.
The revival marks the return of original creators / showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage as executive producers, while Joshua Safran will serve as the new showrunner. Kristen Bell will also reprise her role as the voice of Gossip Girl in the HBO Max revival.
A recent trailer for the HBO Max series revealed that the 2021 version of Gossip Girl is an Instagram account used to spy on a new generation of private school students in Manhattan.
