Photos from the live adaptation of The Little Mermaid suggest that leads Halley Bailey and Jonah Haur-King are filming the “Kiss the Girl” scene.

Halle Bailey and Jonah Haur-King were seen filming a scene from the upcoming live-action adaptation of The little Mermaid, which may be the “Kiss the Girl” scene from the movie, with the song of the same name.

In the scene, Ariel and Prince Eric venture out for a boat ride during one of the mermaid’s visits to the surface. Meanwhile, Sebastian the Crab (originally voiced by Samuel E. Wright) sings “Kiss the Girl,” one of the best-known songs from the animated film, which focuses on the romance between the two. The photos, taken in Sardinia, Italy, are the first of Bailey and Hauer-King on set together. While the visible location and the ship suggest this is the scene being filmed, the information could not be confirmed.

The little Mermaid Development was reported to have started early in 2016, and was originally scheduled to begin filming in April 2020, but was delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The film restarted filming in late 2020. Alan Menken, who scored and co-wrote songs from the original animated film, returned to the live adaptation as the film’s composer. It was also reported that Menken was writing “four or five” new songs for the film, along with producer Lin-Manuel Miranda. While the only confirmed return song is “Part of Your World”, it appears that “Kiss the Girl” could be making a comeback as well.
