Black Widow director Cate Shortland says the Marvel Studios movie had to cut several scenes with the Red Guardian version of David Harbor.
Weather Black widow When she saw Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, director Cate Shortland revealed that the movie had cut quite a bit of footage from the character.
During an interview with TheWrap, Shortland spoke about actor David Harbor’s version of Red Guardian. “Sometimes, not sometimes, I often cried with laughter,” said Shortland. “And there were so many good things that didn’t end up in the movie. But I think that’s why Red Guardian needs its own movie. Because it will be a lot of fun.” Shortland did not elaborate on the cut scenes.
Created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, Alexei Shostakov’s original comic version debuted in the pages of 1967. the Avengers # 43. Unlike the MCU version, Shostakov was Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow’s ex-husband. Although he apparently died in the next issue, he would return and take up the mantle of Ronin several years later before recently returning to the identity of the Red Guardian.
After being delayed several times due to the current coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), which caused the film to not be released last year, Black widow finally hit theaters and Disney + Premier Access on July 9, having grossed $ 60 million globally in the latter. Shortland also recently weighed the possibility of a sequel, saying, “I think these girls still have a lot of butt to kick.”
Directed by Cate Shortland, Black widow stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbor as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff. The film marks Johansson’s final appearance as Black widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his death in Avengers Endgame.
