The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison says season 2 of the long-awaited Star Wars spinoff show has yet to be discussed.
Boba Fett’s book Season 2 has yet to be discussed, according to star Temuera Morrison. The actor returned to the Star Wars galaxy to portray the fan favorite bounty hunter in The mandalorian season 2, playing a key supporting role. In the Mandalorian Post-credits scene from season 2, it was revealed that Morrison would headline his own spinoff show, Boba Fett’s book. Scheduled to premiere on Disney + this December, the series also stars Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand.
Boba Fett has been one of the most popular Star Wars characters for decades, so it’s only fitting to see him become the focus of a new TV series, especially as Lucasfilm increases its presence on Disney +. The studio has a number of shows in various stages of development, some of which may be greenlit for multiple seasons (including Andor). With Boba Fett back in the spotlight thanks to his Mandalorian guest role, some wonder if Boba Fett’s book you will get additional seasons. According to the star, that’s not on the cards yet.
Talking with Fast, Morrison was asked about Boba Fett’s book future. On the subject of a possible season 2, Morrison says he hasn’t heard anything. See their comments in the space below:
“I think they will have to consider some things … The tree is still growing. They will probably want to test the waters first, it has not been talked about.”
Lucasfilm’s top brass may have had conversations about Boba Fett’s book season 2 that Morrison doesn’t know about. Actors may be among the last to know about the projects they are involved in. Still, it appears that even if the show will span multiple seasons, any sequel is in the early stages of development. That probably has less to do with Boba Fett’s book chances of being a success (it will almost certainly be a success) and more with the program’s place in the largest Mandalorian story. Boba Fett’s book has several connections with The mandalorian, which is becoming a crossover event with other derivatives. Lucasfilm may want to wait and see how the narrative unfolds before planning its next move.
Depending on what happens in Boba Fett’s book, there is also the possibility that it is a limited series that does not have additional seasons. One of the benefits of the Disney + platform is that creatives don’t have a sense of obligation to make sure their shows span multiple seasons. They can focus on the story they want to tell and leave it alone if they feel like it’s in a good place. That’s the case with certain Marvel shows like WandaVision, so there is no guarantee for all Star Wars the series will go beyond season 1. Either way, Lucasfilm has a lot of Star Wars programs that come through the pipeline, so they are not entirely dependent on Boba Fett’s book.
