David Harbor maintains his reputation as a funny boy by jokingly referring to the Black widow the stunt doubles as the actresses they represent. It’s been a long and winding road to the big screen for Black widow, but the first MCU Phase 4 movie has finally arrived. For the last time, Scarlett Johansson took on the role of Natasha Romanoff for her first solo adventure, in which Nat on the run reunites with her Russian spy family to take down the Red Room that traumatized and trained her.

Said spy family is made up of exciting newcomers to the MCU like Florence Pugh (as Yelena Belova) and Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff). There’s also Strange things star David Harbor, who helps steal the show as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian. As the Russian equivalent to Captain America, Red Guardian spends much of the movie dreaming of its glory days. Harbor joined some of his co-stars to celebrate Black widowReleased over the weekend, although it took a pretty fun approach. Harbor’s goofy Red Guardian brings a lot of laughs to Black widow, which is ultimately one of the more serious MCU installments. Still, it’s clear that Harbor himself is suited to comedy, and fans have highly praised his performance. There is a lot of interest in seeing him return in the future, perhaps alongside Yelena or Melina. Harbor recently confirmed that he heard about bringing the Red Guardian back, though he also acknowledged that Marvel has a lot going on that he’s not a part of.

Apart from Black widow, Harbor has also worked hard to make Strange things season 4 for Netflix. The hit streaming series might be the biggest hurdle to a future Red Guardian appearance, but it’s probably safe to say that the actor will find a way to make it work. With the dust just settled Black widow, it could be a while before fans learn more about what’s coming next for Alexei from Harbor. Hopefully, however, this won’t be the last time we see him.
