Desperado alumnus Antonio Banderas tackles the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 in an undisclosed role alongside Harrison Ford’s Indy.
Antonio Banderas has reportedly joined the cast of Indiana Jones 5.
According to Term, Banderas has closed a deal to star alongside Harrison Ford in the next installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, joining the already star-studded cast. That said, details about Banderas’ role are being kept under wraps.
A veteran actor, Banderas is known for his roles in such films as Outlaw, Philadelphia, Assassins, Interview with the Vampire and the Spy kids franchise. His role as Salvador Mallo in the 2019 film Pain and glory it earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
Indiana Jones 5 marks the first film in the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg, who has directed the series since 1981 Raiders of the lost ark. Instead, Spielberg handed over the leadership duties to James Mangold, who is known for his work on Logan Y Ford v Ferrari, Among other films.
In addition to Ford and Flags, Indiana Jones 5 is slated to star as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook and Shaunette Renée Wilson. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
