Ever since the school festival started, a mysterious man has been following Katarina waiting for the right moment to strike, and he has finally done so. Now, Katarina wakes up in a comfortable bed in a strange house, completely confused but cool all the same. But his capture is far from the only twist of the episode.
He first meets a maid named Lana, who explains that she will not be hurt as Katarina mentally prepares to face ransom demands and begin negotiations for her freedom. As he correctly intuits, Lana is the daughter of a wealthy noble family, and it is common for people like Katarina to be kidnapped for ransom. However, that’s not the case here: her captor, Lady Selena Berg, doesn’t want a penny from the Claes family. She looks for something less tangible, which suggests serious drama and plot twists.
Selena and her partner Rufus will not let Katarina leave or explain where she is, so the captive accepts this and indulges in the comforts offered to her. If you can dodge the doom flags of a semester, you can also handle a soft kidnapping and bide your time for now. However, he does not realize that Rufus is using dark magic on Selena, and the presence of such is reminiscent of the manipulation of the fake Sirius Dieke and his plan to kidnap Maria Campbell. The danger increases rapidly. Fortunately, Katarina’s friends appreciate the seriousness of this threat and prepare to rescue her no matter what.
Katarina spends an entire day with Selena and Rufus, although Selena’s fiancé, Prince Ian Stuart, is notably absent; you may have no idea that any of this is happening. For now, Katarina is alone, and later that night, Selena walks into her room and wakes her up to explain things to her further, away from Rufus’ keen ears. Selena has an inferiority complex due to her weak magic and talents compared to Prince Ian, Susanna Randall, and the others, and feels unworthy of her beloved fiance who unfailingly supports her. In order to pay the prince, Selena kidnapped Katarina to pressure Prince Geordo to give up his right to the throne, as he is the favorite to become king and thus is Ian’s biggest obstacle.
Katarina empathizes with Selena on a personal level, extending the hand of friendship and lifting her spirits despite the situation. Selena gratefully says that she will abandon the kidnapping plan, showing how much emotional intelligence Katarina has to make up for her lack of wit. However, Rufus arrives and knocks Selena out with a spell, taking over the kidnapping plan. Unfortunately, it will not be so easy to influence with sincere words.
