The Avengers are the best team in Marvel. The team, made up of the greatest superheroes in the Marvel Universe, has saved the day when things have gone awry many times over the years, battling the most dangerous foes imaginable and stopping cosmic calamities. Their power is legendary, but that doesn’t mean they are unbeatable.
While not exactly common, the Avengers have been defeated. Even more unlikely, they have been alone before and could be alone again. In fact, there are a host of powerful characters from across the Marvel Universe who could take down the Avengers on their own.
10 Even without the Phoenix, Jean Gray would shut down the Avengers easily
Jean Gray is one of the most powerful X-Men of all and while the Avengers are formidable, if Jean wanted to take them out, she could do so quite easily. The Avengers don’t really have any protection against telepathy; Iron Man has psi-blockers on his armor, but he’s the only one. Jean could shut down most of the team with a thought, leaving only Iron Man.
That would be where his telekinetic powers would come in; she can ward off all of Iron Man’s attacks and then simply shatter his armor, leaving him unprotected from any of his telepathic abilities. He could beat the team in record time.
9 Magneto is one of the most powerful beings on the planet
Magneto is not only one of the most powerful mutants, but also one of the most powerful beings on Earth. If he chose to do so, Magneto could level society at any moment and the same would happen with the Avengers. Any member with blood in the veins is vulnerable to Magneto, as he can stop its blood flow with a thought.
Thor and Iron Man have a chance against Magneto, but even then, it’s minimal. Your magnetic force fields can protect you from them and everything around you is a weapon you can use to defeat them. Like society, the Avengers only exist because Magneto hasn’t really tried to kill them all.
8 Apocalypse’s powers and armor make him more than a match for the Avengers
Once upon a time, Apocalypse and Thor fought. Apocalypse hit him so hard that he nearly ripped Thor’s head off. He is the heaviest hitter in the Avengers and Apocalypse nearly killed him with a single shot. 7 Scarlet Witch could defeat the team with a few words
Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful Avengers of all, and if she really wanted to, she could take down the Avengers in no time. He is known to freak out and attack the group, sometimes for good reasons and sometimes for not very good reasons, but with his power level, beating the Avengers wouldn’t be very difficult.
While she’s sort of a glass cannon, if she really puts it all down and thinks about it, she could take out her teammates before they had a chance to stop her. In fact, you could do it with a few words.

The Hulk is probably one of the most dangerous beings in the Marvel Universe. It is incredibly strong and durable and has a healing factor that allows it to bounce back from any attack. He often boasts of being the strongest there is, but that is not to brag: the angrier he gets, the stronger he becomes, and his strength potential is infinite.
The Avengers have been stopped by the Hulk before, as his power and rage have been too much for them. Any countermeasures they can think of are quickly discarded and they don’t have the power to take him down before he gets really strong. Eventually it becomes too strong for them and the Hulk defeating the Avengers is just too easy to imagine.

The Celestials are one of the most powerful forces in the known universe. In fact, they are responsible for most of life in the known universe, having genetically manipulated species on multiple planets, including Earth. His power is the next level; even gods like Thor are below them. A celestial on its own is an extinction-level event and not even the Avengers could stop one.
While Thor has his anti-celestial ax, a celestial could stop him before he uses it. As for the rest of the Avengers, atomizing them would be child’s play for a Celestial, as they don’t even have phase one power.
4 Doctor Doom could defeat the Avengers if he really set out
Doctor Doom and the Avengers have been entangled many times and the Avengers have always triumphed. One big reason for this is that Doom is an honorable man; he has a time machine and knows their identities; I could go back in time and kill them in their cribs. However, you don’t really need to do that to kill them.
Doom is one of the smartest people on Earth. He is much smarter than Tony Stark and his armor can deplete the power of the gods. His mystical power is only barely surpassed by that of Doctor Strange and his Doombots are mighty cannon fodder. If Doom devoted all of his power and resources to slaying the Avengers, he would succeed with ease.
3 Hyperion has proven to be powerful enough to kill almost all heroes on its own.
Hyperion is the analog of Marvel Superman and is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. Usually hailing from an alternate reality, there are some Earths where he turned rogue and was able to kill all the heroes who fought him. It didn’t matter who it was, Hyperion beat them.
A version of Hyperion was in the Avengers for a time and was one of the most powerful members of the team. If Hyperion put his mind to it, the Avengers would fall to him very easily. He’s too powerful and would kill most of the team in seconds, with the heavy hitters surviving longer but still eventually going down.
two Galactus is almost unstoppable
Galactus is one of the most dangerous beings in the Marvel Universe. For eons, it has traveled the cosmos, devouring planets to maintain cosmic balance. Bearer of all the power of the Cosmic Power, the power of Galactus has allowed him to defeat all the forces deployed against him. While Earth’s heroes have been able to prevent it from devouring Earth, they generally used some kind of trick.
In a direct fight, there is no possible way for the Avengers to defeat Galactus. He is too powerful for any of them and there is practically nothing any of them can do with a Galactus at full power.
1 Thanos wins
Thanos is one of the most dangerous villains in the Marvel Universe. You don’t need the Infinity Gauntlet or any other high powered weapon; there are few enemies who can oppose him. He can use only the wielders of the Phoenix Force. The Avengers are tough, but faced with Thanos, they wouldn’t stand a chance.
Thanos’ power, cunning, and years of experience have allowed him to outsmart and defeat some of the most powerful beings in the universe. All manners of beings have fallen to Thanos and while the Avengers are powerful, if Thanos really sets his mind to it, he could take down the Avengers at any moment.
