The Mediapro Studio has released the teaser trailer for the comedy Official competition, starring Penelope Cruz Y Antonio Banderas. The trailer focuses on filmmaker Lola Cuevas (Cruz), who is hired by a billionaire to make a movie that will be his legacy. To create her masterpiece, Lola will use Hollywood beloved Félix Rivero (Banderas) and theater actor Iván Torres (Oscar Martinez), two actors who apparently hate each other.
Félix and Iván will have to learn to work together while surviving the deranged scenarios imagined by Lola, one of which involves standing still under a colossal rock hanging from a wire. It’s no wonder Cruz uses the words “pretentious,” “depraved,” and “genius” to describe herself in the new trailer.
Official competition is run by Mariano cohn Y Gaston duprat, a duo of Argentine filmmakers who previously worked with Martínez on The distinguished citizen, which awarded Martínez the Best Actor award in Venice in 2016. The film is written by the directors and Andres Duprat.
The theatrical distribution will be provided by Buena Vista International in Spain, while Star Distribution will be in charge of the premieres in Latin America. Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales, but a US release date has yet to be announced. Check the Official competition trailer below:
