Diagon Alley is one of the most magical places in the Harry Potter world. It is the first place where Harry meets the wizarding world in the books, and it is filled with a variety of shops filled with interesting magical items. From owls and toads to broomsticks, Diagon Alley has it all.
There are definitely shops in Diagon Alley that are more exciting than others. However, some provide more interesting and essential elements than others, and some are simply more exciting overall. Diagon Alley stores can easily be ranked from worst to best.

That’s especially true since it can be visited in the Universal Studios version. eleven TWILFITT AND TATTING’S
Twilfitt and Tatting’s is a magical clothing store that is mentioned a couple of times in the books. It is primarily a place where elegant and wealthy wizards and witches shop, and it is also known to have a certain reputation for serving pure-blood customers like Narcissa Malfoy.
Due to the fact that it is associated with the pureblood ideology, and also that it doesn’t even sound that interesting, Twilfitt and Tatting’s is near the bottom of the list of wizarding shops in Diagon Alley.
10 FLOREAN FORTESCUE ICE CREAM ROOM
While most of the Harry Potter The shops in Diagon Alley feel distinctly magical, Florean Fortescue’s doesn’t seem much different from an ice cream parlor in the Muggle world. While it’s not the most exciting because it’s a pretty ordinary candy store, it does seem like a fun place to hang out.
Harry spent a lot of time studying here during the summer before his third year at Hogwarts. Also, Florean Fortescue seemed like a good man, and he often gave Harry free ice cream while he was studying. It’s one of the actively operating locations at Universal Studios, with a variety of flavors from the wizarding world, like butterbeer ice cream.
9 GRINGOTTS
There is no denying that Gringotts is one of the most important places in Diagon Alley, even if it is not exactly a store. It is definitely an important site for many plot points in the series, and it is full of many mysteries and magic.
However, Gringotts also seems like a rather old-fashioned and even barbaric institution given the fact that they keep dragons in cruel conditions and threaten to let thieves die.
8 MADAM MALKIN’S BATHROOMS FOR ALL OCCASIONS
Madam Malkin’s is the second of the robe shops in Diagon Alley, and it is also the most popular. This is where students get their uniforms for Hogwarts, and it’s also where wizards and witches shop for other things, like ball gowns and traveling capes.
While it may not be full of the most magical items, it would definitely be interesting to see the entire selection in a store like this. Also, since clothing is a basic necessity and also says a lot about a culture, Madam Malkin’s is definitely a base store on Diagon Alley.
7 FLOURISH AND BLOTTS
Flourish and Blotts is the main bookstore mentioned in the Harry Potter universe, and it’s where Hogwarts students get all their books for school. This store is full of fascinating books on magic, including spell books, fortune telling books, magic history books, and much more.
Just thinking of all the knowledge someone could find in Flourish and Blotts is enough to get anyone excited, just ask Hermione Granger. This is definitely a major store, and it’s really fascinating to think about as well.
6 SLUG AND JIGGER APOTECA
While this store is not mentioned very often compared to other stores in Diagon Alley, it is definitely exciting to think about. This is where Hogwarts students shop for ingredients for potions class, and it’s definitely an interesting exercise to think about all the strange and magical ingredients a student might find here.
This is definitely one of the most witchy looking shops of all, and it’s probably full of some gross items too, as there are a lot of dried bugs added to potions.
5 THE LEAKING BOILER
The Leaky Cauldron is the pub that acts as the entrance to Diagon Alley. So somehow it exists in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds, even if Muggles can’t see it. There is something so comfortable and homey about The Leaky Cauldron, and it would be amazing to be able to spend the night there.
Due to its special place as the entrance to the wizarding world, and also the first place where Harry enters the wizarding world, it is an important shop.
4 QUALITY QUIDDITCH SUPPLIES
One of the most exciting things in the wizarding world is Quidditch. As the main magical sport, Quidditch combines all the exciting things of Muggle sports, but then adds magical elements. For many Hogwarts students, hanging out at Quality Quidditch Supplies would be really exciting.
This is one of the Diagon Alley shops where most people in the wizarding world get their brooms and they often have the newest and most expensive brooms available.
3 EYE OWL EMPORIO / MAGIC MENAGERIE
One of the most magical things about reading the Harry Potter books is learning about magical creatures. Being able to have an owl as a pet at school would definitely be an exciting thing, so having magical pet stores to read would be one of the best things about Diagon Alley.
Eeylop’s Owl Emporium primarily sells owls and tools to care for them. Magical Menagerie sells many other magical pets, such as rats and cats. Their functions are the same: find wizards and witches their perfect companions.
2 Weasley’s assistant buzz
While the Weasley twins’ joke shop doesn’t open in Diagon Alley until Harry is in his sixth year at Hogwarts, it definitely made a big impact. This colorful and wacky shop is the pinnacle of wizarding prank shops.
The Weasley twins sold a variety of exciting prank items here, including pygmy puffs, snack boxes, extendable ears, and more. Additionally, these items now exist in reality, as the store is one of the highlights of the Universal Studio version of Diagon Alley stores.
1 OLLIVANDER’S
If there is one store that is the most mysterious and essential in all of Diagon Alley, it is Ollivander’s. This is where wizards and witches get their wands, and without a wand, it is difficult to do magic.
There is something so fascinating about wands and their components and how they are made. While Ollivander may not be the most attractive character, his wand shop is definitely one of the best things about Diagon Alley shops. Universal Studios clearly thought so too, as their store-based kiosks, as well as their own store, pop up everywhere. Harry Potter thematic areas.
