'The Peacemaker': Theories about the end of the series

The first season of ‘The peacemaker‘, the string created by James Gunn for HBO Max and starring John Cenacomes to an end this Thursday, February 17 and, although we have some clue about what could happen, the truth is that the show team has managed to keep the suspense until the end.

A little later, in the post-credits scene, we see how part of this team, Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and John Economists (Steve Agee), are assigned to another suicide mission by Waller in revenge for their insurrection, and they discover that their ally will be, oh surprise, the Peacemaker himself, who against all odds has survived after murdering Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and facing Bloodsport.

‘The peacemaker’ about this new mission, named as ‘Butterfly Project’ because they fight against a worldwide invasion of mysterious alien “butterflies”, and about this same team of Peacemaker, Harcourt and Economos, although it includes new faces. They join Amanda Waller’s daughter Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), leader Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), and Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), a street guard a bit psychopathic. James Gunnproducer and creator of the show, maintains the carefree and thug style of his beginnings in the independent production company troma and that has been able to transport to a more commercial and “mainstream” cinema with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘, but turns away from special effects-heavy space adventures to focus on the world of the street vigilante, a universe he explored with hilarious results in ‘Super‘, his underrated 2010 film. On the other hand, John Cena has surprised with a hilarious interpretation, but also full of melancholy nuances. Without a doubt, the evident freedom that he has when building his character is being the best thing about the series.

The undercover group of Peacemaker and company, calling themselves the “11th Street Kids” after a song by Hanoi Rockshas faced the butterflies and the villain White Dragon and finally they will have the final battle against “the cow”a giant creature that produces the vital food of the alien invaders. But there are still several loose ends to be resolved. These are the theories of what could happen in the season finale:

Judomaster: “Butterflies are not what you think”

We need closure for the character of Judomaster (Nhut Le). Judomaster has been wandering around the series with no apparent destination ever since he was captured in the attack on Senator Goff (Antonio Cupo)but the fact that it continues to appear from time to time gives us clues that it may be important for the outcome of the plot.

He was about to reveal vital information when he blurted out “Butterflies are not what you think“, but he could not complete the sentence because he was shot down by Adebayo. It could even be a butterflysince after all he was the bodyguard of the leader of the alleged invasion.

Aren’t butterflies the villain of the series? Judomaster was tricked by them? Is Judomaster part of his army? These are questions that must be answered in the final chapter.

An important character will die

Every good season finale must include the death of an important character in the plotand the rumors point from the beginning to Emilia HarcourtJennifer Holland.

Vigilante could be another optionand that his death would serve for a darker and more introverted second season of Peacemaker, but freddie stroma has become the revelation of the program, and it would be a great waste. Another candidate is Economists (Steve Agee)but his character is an easily replaceable comic relief.

Emilia Harcourt began the series showing coldness and emotional distance, and warned Adebayo that having personal connections ends up being dangerous.
