HEYDORN'S TAKE: Don't hold me to this – WrestleMania 38 Night Two

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

Your turn, night two. WrestleMania night one was a success from nearly every angle as long as your name isn’t Rick Boogs. The Cody Rhodes surprise delivered, Steve Austin had a wrestling match, and Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch delivered an instant classic.

night two is all about Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. They got a high bar to clear, too.

Call this a preview, a calm look into the distant future, or a gaze into a wondrous crystal ball; just don’t hold me to anything, ok?

AJ Styles vs. Edge

This really didn’t need to be a babyface vs. heel matchup and the fact that it hurts the momentum of the build. It’s in the rearview mirror, though. I’m expecting the audience to be hot for this one and for the crowd to essentially forget the story. This really is about just watching a dream match and to that end, it’ll deliver. Styles goes over.

Bobby Lashley vs. omos

I like a diverse array of styles on my WrestleMania cards and this will be different than anything across either night. Omos is limited in what he can do, but he has been protected at the same time. Lashley will look like a badass babyface as he tries to take Omos down and will look good being the protagonist in that role. This has a heel turn written all over it for MVP. Lashley no longer needs his services from him as a manager and Omos could benefit greatly from them. Omos wins with MVP at his side of him.

Sasha Banks & Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan vs. Natalya & Shayna Baszler vs. Zelina Vega & Carmella – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Well, this checks the box of getting multiple talents on the WrestleMania card, but that’s about it. You’d think that Sasha Banks and Naomi would be the favorite to win this thing, but the tag titles are just far beneath Banks at this point. WWE needs her elsewhere. So, that leaves Ripley and Morgan. They could use the slight boost that a championship win would give them, while giving the audience a happy moment.

Austin Theory vs. Pat McAfee

McAfee is pretty over, so this should be fun. As far as what to expect from a match perspective? Uh, not much. McAfee will hit his spots on it, but they’ll be formulaic in nature. Clearly, McAfee gets the victory leaving Theory a little overshadowed in his first WrestleMania outing.

RK-Bro vs. Alpha Academy vs. The Street Profits

I can’t wait to hear the pop for RK-Bro. They’ve been a surprise success for WWE and one of the most over acts on Monday Night Raw. Look for a lot of action in this one. We’ve seen some good chemistry from all three teams and though Street Profits are a little miscast, they’ll bring a special energy to the match. This is primed for RK-Bro to win and will be the perfect way to kick off the show.

Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville

Think Jackass stunt show, but you know, in a pro wrestling match. Zayn is the perfect act to sell for Knoxville and this entire thing will lead to a big spot from Knoxville to wrap the match up. Knoxville and Jackass for the win in the end.

Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns-WWE Championship vs. Universal Championship Winner Take All Unification Match

Alright, this is why we’re all here. WWE’s two biggest stars, colliding on the biggest stage, with the biggest stakes possible on the line. WWE has done a really nice job building this match. The feud has taken twists and turns since Summerslam and has come to boil at the exact right time. Reigns and Lesnar will produce a match that mirrors the hype and is worthy of the story they told. This will be stiff, a little bloody, and a moment for Roman Reigns to shine in a better way. Reigns gets the victory. With potentially significant business on the table for Reigns next year in the form of The Rock, it makes perfect sense to keep him hot as a unified champion.
