First suspected case of acute childhood hepatitis detected in Sinaloa


The Secretary of Health of Sinaloa, Cuitláhuac González, reported that they detected the first suspected case of acute childhood hepatitis.

At a press conference, he said that they are still in the process of ruling out all known causes. Only at the end of the investigation will it be possible to confirm if it is a case of concern.

The patient is a 15-year-old boy, treated at the Culiacán pediatric hospital, with a good evolution.

He said that only in the worst cases is a transplant necessary.

He assured that the entity has the entire team to follow up on this case.

Cuitláhuac González said that the young man has no travel history and that it is only the first suspected case, but he promised to keep society informed of any increase.

He announced that there are 348 cases worldwide, especially in Europe. In Nuevo León, Mexico, there are 4 suspects, who have been mild and are progressing favorably.
