In an interview with Aristegui en Vivo, Leopoldo Maldonado, director of Article19 for Mexico and Central America, explained that the recommendation issued by the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) on the use of Pegasus malware against Mexican journalists and activists addresses an important issue in terms of of the legal framework that benefits the authorities to exercise espionage practices; however, Maldonado explained that the position of the commission was left to duty insofar as it does not address the obstacles that the investigation has had over five years in which no sanctions have been imposed.
