More than 50,000 university students and supporters marched on May 27 to demand respect for the budgetary autonomy of the University of Guadalajara. The protesters asked the government of Enrique Alfaro Ramírez for a decent budget, as well as respect for autonomy. Ricardo Balderas explains that the budget granted to the UdG in 2022 is the lowest in 10 years. He added that prior to the march, the university community denounced a boycott due to police operations to stop the buses that would transport the students to downtown Guadalajara.
