Manuel Velasco says that the call with 'Alito' Moreno was distorted and that he did not threaten anyone

Senator Manuel Velasco responded to the statement made by the national leader of the PRI, Alejandro Moreno, that he served as a transmission belt for a threat from the Ministry of the Interior to the opposition if he did not align himself with the electricity reform proposed by President López Obrador.

He said that the national leader of the PRI recorded a private conversation without his consent, violating the trust they have had in talks for 20 years.

He assured that the content of the call was distorted and that he did not threaten anyone, but rather shared his personal opinion.

I have had private talks with Alejandro Moreno for more than 20 years, like this call that he decided to record without my consent, violating trust by doing it unilaterally and where I spoke in a personal capacity.

Unfortunately, the content was distorted, since at no time did I threaten anyone, on the contrary, I reflected and shared my opinion as in all the conversations that we both have had, being respectful of their decisions at all times.

It is a personal conviction, since in my capacity as Senator of the Republic I have dialogue every day to build agreements based on respect and understanding.

The national leader of the PRI, Alejandro Morenoexhibited an audio that presumably corresponds to the telephone call he received from the Senator Manuel Velasco to transfer a threat from the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, and President López Obrador.

“That if you didn’t pull, they were going to go with everything,” Moreno’s interlocutor is heard saying.

The conversation took place in context of the discussion of the energy reform promoted by the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which did not achieve a qualified majority due to the votes against the opposition.

As reported by the PRI leader, he replied that he would not respond to threats:

Less so, with threats and shit, well less. And well, if they are going to come with everything, then let them come with everything, I have no issue.

In the call, Velasco says that he was summoned by the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto Lópezto a meeting, in which “the two”, “friend” and “brother” communicated “with his boss”.

-Velasco: They sent to bring me, about an hour and a half ago, our friend, our brother, you know with whom…

-Velasco: yes, he spoke with his boss there, in front of me, and that if you didn’t pull it off they were going to leave with everything.

According to the material released by Moreno, he said he was not afraid of attacks: “we don’t understand that way, less under threat, you know me… and less so with threats, and well, if they are going to come with everything, let them come with everything, I have no theme. If I have something, it is that I have leftover eggs”.
