The first chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) declared unconstitutional the cut made by the Chamber of Deputies to the budget of the National Electoral Institute (INE) for this 2022.
Among the effects, it is ordered that the Chamber of Deputies will have 30 calendar days to analyze and determine the conduct of the Expenditure Budget, in a public session, in relation to the allocation to the electoral body.
During the session this Wednesday, the minister president of the first chamber, Margarita Ríos, spoke out for taking the matter to the plenary session, but in the final vote there was a unanimous five votes.
The INE activated constitutional control before the 2022 Expenditure Budget, issued by the Chamber of Deputies and promulgated by President López Obrador, including the budget and the remuneration of public officials.
On his Twitter account, counselor Ciro Murayama said that the INE won a constitutional controversy against the Chamber of Deputies.
It has been worth defending the autonomy and powers of the INE, as well as going before the SCJN claiming the validity of the rule of law.
