The first Marvel Studios movie to arrive in 2023 will be Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaand one of the actresses in the franchise has asked for major changes to her character. Will they be granted?
Everybody wants to be a superhero and if it’s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much better, a franchise in which the stars tend to steal scenes and shock the audience. Of the MCU’s many sub-franchises, Ant-Man has produced some of the best supporting characters on Marvel Studios’ roster.
Michael Pena’s Luis, Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo and the phenomenal Judy Greer, who plays Scott Lang’s ex-wife Maggie, add incredible value to their respective films.
Judy Greer has been a part of the franchise since day one. While she is still up in the air as to whether she will have a role in the third film of the trilogy, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania, but he is clear that he wants to continue being part of the UCM and would like to see how his character gains more relevance.
In a recent interview with Inside Disney Podcastthe actress confessed that she hopes that one day her character can “come back with a superpower” even going so far as to request the big change from director Peyton Reed:
“Well, I’m still crossing my fingers that my character will come back with a superpower. I talked to Peyton Reed, the director, about it all the time. Well, I try all the time”.
Greer explains what it’s like to be on the set of a Marvel Studios movie. Like many actors before her, she praises nature “high level” of the production.
“The thing about Marvel movies is like staying in a fancy hotel. And I mean it’s like “high-end.” As if everything is the best it can be. And Ant-Man, because Ant-Man is like, I call it comedy. It’s a superhero movie, but it’s fun.”.
Nor did he lack praise for his protagonist
“You can’t make a movie with Paul Rudd and not be hilarious. So I feel like I got the best superhero part of the franchise because we’re not just getting rid of bad people, but we’re also making people laugh all the time. And that was so much fun. It wasn’t what I expected when I went to work on a Marvel movie.”
The veteran actress was then asked what it’s like to play such a pivotal role in Ant-man. She further explored how fun Rudd was to work with, but she insists on mentioning her in-universe husband and the “Rudd’s best friend in real life”Bobby Cannavale, also:
“So I really can’t answer that question without talking about Bobby Cannavale, because they’re actually best friends in real life. So working with two guys who are best friends with each other in real life, it’s like, you just have to take a step back and make sure that the actual tears that come from your eyes because you’re laughing so hard don’t ruin the scene. …it’s a lot of pranks and a lot of behind-the-scenes shenanigans that kept us on our toes.”
Greer has not confirmed if he will return in Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumiaand was one of the great absences along with Cannavale in Avengers: Endgameso we assumed that they disappeared with the snap of Thanos in infinity war, Scott did not get to see their names on the monument to the disappeared in San Francisco, but they did not delve into the subject either. So we will find out if they return and what happened to them on February 17, 2023, the date the film will be released.
